We have lots of these guys every winter and early spring. It's fun to watch their color develop as spring gets closer.
Super views lovable creatures love them.
Goldfinches are always so lovely -- petite, bright, cheerful with their golden feathers.
You do so well capturing photos of birds- these are so pretty!
Wish I could see a few of those...
Piękny ozłocony ptak na tle niebieskiego nieba. Z radością patrzyłam na zdjęcia. Pozdrawiam.Beautiful gilded bird in the blue sky. The joy of looking at the pictures. Yours.

Good Morning Tex! I really enjoy the Goldfinches. In the summer I love to hear their birdspeak. Beautiful colors!
Lovely! It's weird how they're so bright-eyed and alert but the scene can't help but look peaceful.
They are lovely. Have a super Sunday.Best wishes Molly
They are such fun little birds! We've got lots of them here too but they are here year round. Just changing out their plumage.
Beautiful! I am ready for Spring, and the return of our feathered friends. Today, however, we are already busy with "blizzard" prep!
Theresa . . . You are such an artist . . . with colored pencil or camera . . . and presentation as well. I love these photos!

We have them pretty much year round. Interesting.
Your cute little bird has me smiling this morning. Such a cutie..Hugs~
Ours are scolding me as I have no sunflowers for them to eat. Very nice shots.
A like your title very much. The series is good in that it shows the bird perched and very active.
You take the best bird pictures, you and Lasse Sellberg from Sweden. Do you guys follow each other? If not he's in my sidebar.
I love how pretty he is. Yellow is one of my favorite colors.
These are all nice shots of the birds that stay here all summer. I think there are one pair here now but with faded colors. This link is my new birdsblog after the other stuff had been hacked.http://mynewbirdsblog.blogspot.com/
Showoff! What a bird.
Beautiful skies and a beautiful bird! Love the colors! Great captures!
Good choice for the post name. The gold does stand out against the deep blue skies!
Beautiful pictures! Enjoy your Sunday!
The goldfinch is the Washington state bird. I love those guys! :-)
l like the shot of the finch with open wings, such a pretty yellow.
Don't you just love their wings!! Cool shots!
Great views and series of shots!
Beautiful shots, T! I've never seen them around here.
They are so welcome here in the spring! A sunny, yellow harbinger of better days!Cheers,Jo, Stella and Zkhat
They are very pretty Theresa but quite different to our Goldfinches. Of your recent posts I particularly enjoyed the bathing Blue Jays, the White-winged Doves and of course the very purposeful Baron with his stick :-)
how big are goldfinches? don't know if I've ever seen one unless they are small little birds and what I think are yellow warblers are goldfinches. except the warblers don't have those striking black and white wing patterns.
Goldfinches make me happy :)
They are so sweet, especially against that bright blue sky.
What a gorgeous bird, and the golden color is so nice against that bright blue sky.
Love American Goldfinch...they are another one of my favorites!...:)JP
Reminds me of what Gerard Manley Hopkins said about "finches' wings".
And a few months from now we will have your goldfinches.
They are such happy little birds
They are so beautiful! I love the golden color against that blue sky. Wonderful shots!
One of my favorites birds that pass thru here. I should fill my feeder here by the window.

Ah the Goldfinch. State bird of Washington, ya know. One of our favorites. Lovely pictures. MB
Those photos look like postcards, they are fantastic.Have a good week Teresax Fiona
Beautiful shots! Very nice with the bare branches and blue sky! Apparently, the goldfinches here never get the memo to winter further south.
Great series!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
Love your finches T. The Goldfinch is one our regular visitors to our feeders and generally stay in the area all year long.
It's nice to see some Spring-like activity :-)
They have such sweet little songs. We have several that stay through the winter here too but their colours change to a more drab shade. Now they're beginning to yellow up again. Lovely captures, T.
Goldfinches are another of my favorites, and you've captured some wonderful shots of them...especially that one with the raised wings.
Must be spring!!
Oh what lovely pictures and look at that lovely blue sky. :)
Goldfinches are such cute little birds- love their yellow feathers. Great series of shots Theresa.

My grandfather used to call the "wild canaries". I always think of Grandpa when I see them. Wonderful series.
So pretty! I'm waiting for some new birds to come to my feeders. The house finches are the faithfuls.
Those gold finches are a lot bigger then the ones we have here -ours are tiny.
Absolutely beautiful!!! The bright yellow against the blue sky is outstanding.
PS....reading Sandie's comment about the finches being bigger than the ones she has...I thought right away "Everything is bigger in Texas". ;o)
Saw three here the other day. Hard to believe how different they'll look with the next molt.
How divinely elegant, the gold one against the blue sky!
I've been missing the finches. We always have lots at the feeder. Surprisingly, I saw a female a couple of weeks ago. I couldn't believe it.Nice series!
Pretty little birds and lovely blue skies!
So pretty! so you don't have them year round?

How fun for you Theresa! We have them all year, yet I am still grateful.
They are beautiful! The title of your post Blue and Gold had me thinking you were doing a post on WVU because that is their colors! lol
Seeing them always makes me think of summer!!
Each of these is wonderful. So full of life.
So that's where my Goldfinches go in the winter...to your house.
Truly one of my favorite birds! Love the way they pick at the flower seeds upside down:@)
Three years ago I bought a special finch feeder. No finches... This year I didn't put it out and I've got several finches this year on my 'regular' bird feeders. You pictures are beautiful.

Beautiful against that blue sky, and that shot with the wings...wow!
Nice birds - wonderful contrast with the sky.It does seem crazy that we have floods in Queensland and New South Wales and bush fires in Victoria and Tasmania.Stewart M - Australia
Flashes of avian color!
I saw two foldfinches yesterday but they did not stay so I could get a shot. Love yours.

Nothing like a little bright color to spruce up the yard or woods or field!Pretty birds!
Ah, somehow I missed this post. Sometimes I don't check blogs on Sundays. Can't wait till the Goldfinches arrive here! I think it'll be awhile yet!

Very beautiful birds Tex!!Great close ups!!Hope you have a wonderful week!Dimi..
Love those goldfinch. I like their little call.Have not seen nary a one in the yard. Might have seen some if I had put the thistle feeder up.

The first photo took my breath away (and I also like the fluttering wings)
Ours go sort of olive green in winter!
There was a place down home...actually on my brother's property...any time you passed by you could see all kinds of goldfinches. They are like little bitss of sunshine. Always love seeing them. Ours are just barely beginning to have color...so little I wonder if I am imagining it.
