Sunflower seeds won't attract them enough here, so we're going all out and buying dried corn cobs from our friend the farmer. He says he'll set some aside for us this fall and then I plan find a dead branch to serve as a stake, stick on a corn cob like my mom does and wait for the little cuties to appear. I just want one faithful squirrel... that's all I'm asking!
Hi Tex, As always, a great series of photos! I think these "series photos" are your specialty! Thank you for stopping by John's Island and your comments. So far, you are the only one who has voted for one of the dahlia photos! Luv it and thanks! Hope you have a great weekend. John PS I was in Texas visiting family for a few days (near Houston). Gotta luv the Lone Star State!
I'm so glad you actually like the squirrels. So many people (including my present roommate) hate them and try to run them away from the bird feeders. I say there should be food for all!
A fine shot of these smart little creatures. Last night I spilled about half a handful of peanuts on the rug by my chair...so I pick up the rug with the nuts and took it to the front door. Remembering that these nuts have some salt, I threw them into a dense evergreen where I thought the squirrels would not find them. WRONG...this morning they spotted them right off and were crawling all over the evergreen seeking a nut or two. I threw out some non-salted, in-the-shell to try to distract them, but it didn't work very well. :-)
We get upset with the little beggars when they monopolize the bird feeder, spring, summer and fall. But in the winter when the view is bleak, they are out there, romping around, playing games and somehow, then, we don't get nearly so angry with them. We watch them tear around, and what birds there are, don't even seem to mind them that much.
He's adorable and well fed for sure. I swear that second picture to the last looks like the little bandit has a cigarette in its mouth. You're not encouraging that habit are you ;>)
What a cute little guy! I like feeding them. What the heck, they steal anyway. Our squirrels have come out of hibernation with the warm spell. Cold again, and they will go down again soon! The red squirrels are tough and don't snooze. Cheers from Cottage Country!
Greedy little guy. Mine spend so much time trying to figure out how they can fly off the branches over to the feeders. Occasionally they make it! Little rascals. There is enough on the ground from the birds tossing out what they don't like. Guess the squirrels don't like it either! LOL
Hi Theresa, What a cutie! I know. I know. But still... Ha! I have not seen many squirrels out but then it has been quite cold and snowy here in recent days. Have a great Sunday tomorrow!
He sure is a hungry little fellow...sitting in a bird bath! Maybe he is feeling dirty...you need to put some bubble bath in it and squirt it with the water hose!
Dearest Theresa, Oh, you reminded me they love sunflower seeds(*^_^*) Plump, obese or fat; what ever the words we may be able to describe the squirrel, that sure is a sweet cute one with beautiful pictures♡♡♡ Sending you lots of love and hugs from Japan, xoxo Miyako*

some one said something about drinking wine - that would be scary with a squirrel & wine??! iffy situation indeed. ( :
You sure treat your guests to the Ranch nice. Even serving their meals in bowls big enough to sit in! No body goes away hungry around your place!
his little belly is so red compared to ours. :)
It appears he's claimed his spot!
