Watch dogs on duty - afterall, you usually have something in that feeder.

Carole M. said...

...so do the birds feel free to come on down when the watch-dogs are out?

Dianna said...

Do you rent them out for "side hustles"? I need something/somebody to rid our yard of the Canada Geese?
The job would pay well!

Looks like my three. Zeek is black and white, Lamonte is black...and Duke is a tri-colored Beagle. I'll bet they could soak up a ton of sun together. :)

How dogs do love chasing squirrels, but those pesky little creatures always outwit them. Tell those beautiful canines that they're wasting their time, but if they are like ours, they'll never quit hoping!

Deb said...

Good work..... Love those doggies

Are you sure they were on squirrel watch? They looked more like sun worshipers to me!

MarmePurl said...

Hope they get one..or two

Linda said...

How do their little hearts stand the drama? It looks like one of them looks up, just to see if they can make the other one look up. And it works.

Janey and Co. said...

I am thinking you don't have to buy bird feed very often!

Andrew said...

Haha! Any chance of borrowing them to guard my new feeders lol x

Denise at Autumn Sky said...

It's a very important job and they do it with such focus.

I think their stategy is working. Not a squirrel In Sight!

MTWaggin said...

I have at least one red headed devil dog that would be in the feeder eating the seeds (yup he's weird). Good guard dogs there!

Our cat likes to lay in the grass near the bird bath, as if the birds can't see her.

Larry Ostby said...

Those two dogs appear to be equally threatening. No wonder there are no squirrels in the area. Smart squirrels don't ya think. ;)

Furry Bottoms said...

What would they do if a squirrel appeared? I don't think a squirrel would have, with two sentry there but what would have the dogs done?

Betsy Adams said...

Looks like the birds stay away while they are on duty watch.

Such hard work!

don said...

Your dogs do a fine duty in watching for and keeping squirrels at bay. The squirrels here defy everything including other squirrels to maintain control of any peanuts on the ground.

Cheryl @ TFD said...

I'd say the squirrels would think twice about coming around those two hardworking dogs on guard detail. Baron has such a pretty shiny coat!

pattisjarrett said...

Those varmints don't stand a chance, but it doesn't mean they won't try, try again. I've missed these photos.

Wiewiórka chyba miała obawy przed pieskami i sie nie pojawiła. Pozdrawiam.
The squirrel was probably fear of dogs and did not show up. Yours.

Sallie (FullTime-Life) said...

Those varmints don't have a chance with the patrol on duty! Yay!

They're so beautiful. I also loved the previous two posts that I missed while away....glad to have the update on the llamas (I think they're happy as long as they have a job to do...in Oregon we always see just one guarding a herd of sheep.)

Robin Lamb said...

T, nothing get by them!

What good dogs they are! Squirrel duty is one you have to be very diligent about, well worth waiting for hours for that one exhilarating mad chase and the eternal hope that eventually you will catch one of those little varmits.

Looks like they are doing a fine job! Two very good looking dogs! I had a spotted dog like that, 'Petey'. Half Dalmation and half coyote. Yea. He howled on a stump in the yard whenever we left. Loved that dog. xx

Sketchbook Wandering said...

Squirrel Duty! You, & they are so funny! You've done it again, Ms Tex!

Jo's World said...

Thelma and Baron are invited to Minniesnowda to do Squirrel Duty with Stella. Ours seems like it might be more exciting, we have a power line across the yard and the squirrels tear across that line at a high rate of speed. Now Stella knows, (and your gang would too), that there is always a remote possibiity one of the squirrels would fall. Stella lies in wait, for that glorious moment to happen. She would love to have buddies with her to do the job.

Cheers,
Jo, Stella and Zkhat

troutbirder said...

Such loyal and hard workers. My Baron loves the deep snow. He races around to the back yard, scares the rascals, who jump off the platform feeder, bog down in the snow and er... well the rest is a little to ugly to describe in a family type blog....:)

Angela said...

They are trying to fool the squirrels into thinking that they are lawn statues sitting there all still! lol I hope the squirrels are smarter than that! hahaha

Montanagirl said...

Your dogs always look so sleek and pretty. I'll bet those squirrels didn't show up, did they?

Happier Than a Pig in Mud said...

Yes but, I don't see a squirrel:@)
