Whistlers on Wednesday 15

One wet February day.
Black-bellied Whistling Ducks nibbling near the pond's edge.


Someone's always got to be different.
"Look what I can do!"



 

Yes, I love these cool, quirky ducks.

Tex I can see why you love those cool quirky ducks. They are whimsical little things. Love those watery shots. And I like the little one that looks like he is thinking about diving off the high dive. Fun they are back!

That is the cutest darn duck I have ever seen. He apparently does not enjoy getting his feet wet! LOL.

So interesting seeing these long legged ducks with orange beaks! You called them whistlers -- I take it they don't quack but whistle? They are neat ducks!

the last few he looks like he is a diving duck not a whistling duck. i love the watery look of the first few.. they look like paintings, expensive paintings.

I like the ducks in the water with reflections to add to their appeal. The "show off" is very special duck. Obviously he knows how unique he is. Duck personality must go much deeper than looking like other ducks! :-)

Their bills give them away through the vegetation! There always has to be one! LOL! The only duck I've seen do that is a Wood Duck.

How cute are these ducks. I love ducks.
I had a pet white duck in s.A..she would follow me all over the place ..and my setters I had at the time loved her.
Ironic ..today, I had lunch with some friends.
One of the ladies remarked after lunch, that she had seen the most oddest of ducks on her way here.. It was all black. ! could have been one of these .. i must look it up.

Love the shot where the four are all standing still like they talked about it and decided if they stood like statues, you'd go away. And the little dare devil! What a character! Maybe he's Daffy Duck in disguise! Very pretty ducks!

I think I saw these when I was a kid living in Texas. We used to fish a lot, and there was one area we went to that I think had these, at certain times. They are so pretty, and unique!

I do like these ducks - and the shots through the vegetation add something to their quality.

The twisting neck hawk is pretty remarkable - many hours with a chiropractor if we tried that!
