I think that the larvae should be very afraid!Nice picture.cheersStewart M - Melbourne
the toad looks like it's had plenty of larvae lunches and I'm kind of surprised the toad has survived long enough to eat them all considering the lovely snakes you have wandering around some times....
When I was a child, we lived beside a pond. I was never afraid of frogs. We loved catching the tiny ones around the foundation of our house! Thanks for bringing back my frog memories, Theresa. Have a good weekend!
Toads a cute; like mesomorphic frogs. I especially like those horned toads, or horned frogs, however they're called. You caught that little beauty quite well in a picture.
Yikes, that is a big fat Toad, very good to have in our gardens...but not the prettiest looking creature, :) Francine.
beauty is in the eye of the beholder!! Great photos and have a wonderful weekend!!
I like toads also.
Funny, I too have a soft spot for them. Nice one.
=D I heart toads, too... and bullfrogs... and lizards... ;) he is a cute little tubby-bellied guy. have a great weekend, T. blessings ~ t.
I agree completely! My eyes always fall to frogs and toads. Lovely pics!
He looks well fed! LOL!
In honor of Memorial Day, I shall name this toad, Rosie. (the ribetter) ;)
We like toads at the Tiny Ten too!
Beautiful picture, but I do not like toads!Nice weekendCrissi
Well, I quite agree! He (or she) is very beautiful! I love the word toad.
Not sure about toads but great pix. Have a super Saturday.Best wishes Molly
Toads!!! My cousins and i used to seek out their company . . we started to call each other "toad nose" - for a while, Toads were our favorite people. Thanks for reminding me.-g-
Each one of us has a favorite . . . Thorny looking toad for me, not so much. BUT . . . happy to know you 'heart' it!(I do think it was "heart filled" to leave the rug shelter for him/her . . . Enjoy a great weekend . . .
Very good photos ... with a kiss, maybe becomes prince :))Have a great weekend.a kiss.
What a cutie....ribbit
I love Toads and frogs. Good for you for leaving this one be. One of the cutest images that I ever shared was of a Tree Frog that I kept in a small earth aquarium overnight a couple of years ago, so that I could release it into a safe area. The next morning the little frog was found sitting on the back of my tiny Box Turtle, that I found as a turtelette. BTW, thank you, what you suggested about comments, totally worked~
I have a fondness for frogs and toads myself. Can you make it a cute little toad house?
WAU - where some great pictures you show of a frog / toad. I'm good enough, not so much for neither frogs / toads and snakes :)
Of course you (heart) the toad. You (heart) everything! He's pretty magnificent! :-)
I love toads too - cute guy!
Your big handsome toad is just waiting for a sweet kiss. Do yo heart him enough to kiss him? he,he. I love toads too.Have a great weekend.Hugs,JB
When the weather heats up here in COlorado we walk in the early morning hours and I love walking about the double lakes at our local rec center and listening to the bullfrogs. They are a bit shy so we can not get too close but I still love a sweet photo like this one here! My sons are were both afraid of frongs as young boys but two of my three girls are silly like me! I loved the slippery feeling they gave my hands and I loved watching them be free. Sweet post. I love your cool photos!
Toads are neat creatures!
Horny toads are my favorite. We hardly ever see them anymore though. Which maybe is why the ants seem to be taking over. :(
How sweet of you to leave the toads cover! Wonder how the dogs will react to it!
I'm not sure "cute" is the descriptive word I'd have chosen, but I guess toads do have a certain charm.
I'm not sure I'd call them cute :) ...but when I hear how many bugs they eat, they are welcome in my garden any time!!
es ist ein Prinz..grinsLG vom katerchen
I hear them but rarely see them around here. Great capture and you really are a softie. :)
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. ;)xo Catherine
As toads go, he's a handsome one. Great shots!
Frogs and toads are quite okay for me, but we have them in the fall uitanför house. When it's dark outside and I go for the last time with our dog, often barefoot, well then I do not appreciate stepping on these rather large toads. / Brita
I am with you with admiration for these guys.
You were very kind to that toad. I love hearing them out in our pond, our grandson when we moved here called them "thogs" (frogs) We loved hearing him say that word :)
Great close up of the toad.
I was a toad once, I still might be depending on who you ask! LOL
I love toads. So happy when I find one in the garden. Wonderful images of your friend. Happy Critter Day!
I ♥ looking at Toads. sandie
he is really beautiful. i read on a blog somewhere that it is good to make toad houses for them, that they eat 10,000 bugs i forgot in what amount of time. it said take an old clay pot, and turn it on its side and bury half way in dirt, so it is a half cave.... i would have left the rug to except here Jake would for sure try to kill him... i take it your dogs don't bother them.
I love toads too. We have mucho toads around here, and I love how they camouflage themselves. I've seen them turn yellow/gold to match our house colour...so neat!
A cute only a mama can love!! Of course, he's a handsome fellow and I love watching them!
Love them too. Nice find.
My mother used to tell me, as a little kid, I would get warts if I handled a toad. Nobody wants warts so we stuck with frogs! I love any insect eater, though, its a noble occupation as far as I am concerned!Cheers,Jo, Stella and Zkhat
I like toads too Theresa. We only have 2 species here in the UK.
hij voelt zich veilig bij je.
He likes you!Look at that look hes giving you!Toads are good luck you know -"The ancient Chinese revered a mythical creature known as the Chan Chu or "Toad God". This toad is believed to be bring good luck, prosperity and wealth to its owner."lucky you!!!
Looks like lunch time!
I like toads too. Shame they have such a bad reputation...
If that is a fly larvae it is huge, but everything in Texas is bigger. I have never seen a soldier fly.
Nice pictures, wonderful texture and rock toad!
For the toad - ie: the larvae
I cannot actually say that I heart toads. I spent so many years of my life kissing them, hoping they'd turn into a handsome prince. Not a one ever did! Have a good weekend!
We love the toads as well, they have faces that few can love! :-)
It's so funny that you posted a toad, it seems they are popping up everywhere in my yard, or rather garden and flower spots. It's almost more toads then blossoms lately!
I always celebrate when I find a bug catcher. This is a handsome one.
Love your toad shot! He looks so happy!
I like toads until the tree frog starts croaking and then I know a rain is coming. It's okay if we need the rain, but right now we don't and I wish I could send this one your way!
Another way we are alike...I love toads, too. See post Here I wrote about a toad...Hope the link works....
I'll be! I just got a cute pic of a big ol' roadie the other day! I think they are cute too! Mine was in a flat of phlox. You couldn't even see him!
HI Teresa... Love your toad friend, I would have to leave the rug too!I had one that lived in the garage last summer,I named him toadie-oddie.What a fat bugger he was : )Grace
Welcome to Tex!Toads are very interesting. A picture? fantastic.I send greetings :)Lucia
I heart them too. Toads and tree frogs are both so much fun!
We absolutely love toads!Over the years we've had hundreds of them hopping about our house, loved, kissed on, and set free in the garden again. This one is a dandy!
You are a very nice and kind hearted...
A rug to live under, a great big larva to eat... life is looking good for this toad!
Wow! great shots.
He is definitely handsome!
cute Toad Theresa!yummy larva for him ;)have a nice weekend
Great shots. This one looks cute indeed :)Thanks for dropping by!www.1sthappyfamily.com
Me too! I have a sculpture of one to photo soon!:-) Aloha Tex
Then you would find me most lovable. That is, if my wife's general (and most often) description of me is accurate, of course. Sigh.
Toads are great for keeping down the insect population down too.
great shot of the toad. That is some really great closeups.
T, looks like this guy is doing well under your rug!
Amazing that you could photograph him. Enjoy your Saturday.
That was so good of you to save the rug for his shelter! I like toads and frogs, too. This one almost blends in with the rock color.
that a dam good cell phone you have, it takes some 1st class images. Thanks for the comment re my good wife too.Enjoy the rest of the weekend.peter
Toads are an asset around the garden. We don't see them often, but occasionally we'll cross paths with one, usually on the way to the front door when the porch light is on. I love that you kept the old rug in place for it.
Good on you for not throwing out the toad's hole. I guess that larvae could be its next meal.
That's some big toad, great pictures
A beauty always, love your Toad.
He's really cute. A nice shot with your phone.
I've always liked them too. I loved to find what we called "nickel" toads when I was a kid - they were about the size of a quarter really.
Lovely photos! He is cute, I think!
Beautiful toad :-)
Qute or ugly, I dont know :-)
Great photos!!So cute!!Dimi..
Tes they are really cute!! Great photos from your cellphone! :))
I love your blog..Its very nice here..grate photos, beautiful colours..MAGIC THINGS..i love the dogs too..I;ll be waiting you to my blog.kisses and hugs!!!!!!!
Myślę, że ropucha jest wdzięczna, że jej nie pozbawiasz domu. Pozdrawiam.I think the toad is grateful that it did not deprive the house. Yours.
I don't think that larvae is long for this world! Nice of you to leave the toad's house alone. (I love them too!
Great shots of the toads. I'm sure the toad appreciated the carpet. Margaret
They are very cute indeed. Some are so prehistoric looking! lol Hugs!
Hi Y'all! What a wonderful photo of the frog. Do y'all get the little green tree frogs that seem to cover everything in wet spring weather?Y'all come by now,Hawk aka BrownDog
Hmmmm, I don't think I've ever thought of toads as cute, but your photos of the toad are pretty awesome.
Interesting how a toad can make a palace out of a discarded rug.
Just don't have many toads here. Cute little guy, not sure how much I'd "like" them tho.
I'll take toads any day. They are rather pleasant!
Dearest Theresa,Oh, I remember finding and playing with them in the rice paddy we see a lot when young p;) I was a weird girl who could touch them, haha.I checked soldier fly with pc.Sending you lots of love and hugs from Japan to my American photographer friend, xoxo Miyako*
Have you ever seen toad and frog houses made out of broken pots? We have some clay pots in the back yard that we made into frog houses. Ever so once in a while we will catch a frog sitting in one.
I think that's lunch, regardless of the type of larvae. They are laid back, except when you catch one and they pee on you.
Seeing as though this is the first toad I have encountered, I will reserve my opinion, great shots with the cell phone.
Well... I don't find them cute, but I do like the fact that they eat a lot of pesky insects. We usually have a couple living under the Hostas surrounding our patio. Last year I relocated a snake that ate one for lunch.
That is one load of a toad.
Just promise me you won't kiss it!
Aww.. I'll remember this post always. I have toad-al recall. ;)
Cute little puffy guy. I like him. MB
There is wisdom in that face. Beautiful!
Nice toad. There's one in my flower bed.Felicia
awwww, he looks like a prince!!You are a dear, kind soul Theresa, have a happy weekend!!
I love the little guys too. I've definitely had my share around here too. Lately all I see is their huge poops they leave on my front walkway.
The best toads for me would be ceramic. I think they're interesting, at a distance, just don't want them too close. *cringe
I love toads...they are my number one defense against mosquitoes! I just saw one tonight in the crack between our sidewalk and our foundation...he looked squished. There was a snake in there with him and by the time I ran and got my camera, the snake was alone. My son said the toad went UNDER our sidewalk. I wonder what else lives under there!
Such a cute shot. Looks like the toad liked posing for you.
Haha! He's cute!
You are such a sweetie! What a cutie! :)
He's very cute!
I can see why you are willing to keep his rug shelter handy. He's so ugly he is cute.
Those are great photos! There aren't any toads or frogs around the house here. I'm surprised the dogs don't mess with it.
I like them too but ask them not to come too close. Was the larvae his breakfast?
Cute toad, the larvae is a goner for sure. You do have the cutest visitors. Have a happy weekend!
I swear, your blog is one of the best online!!! This toad is sweet. And so natural on the stones...well camouflaged.
Something happened to me along my way. I used to hold and play with them as a child.. Now ..I dont like to see them. We have some jolly big ones here.good shot, and he has good food.val
We don't have toads around here (none that I've ever seen, anyway), but I've lived in places where we did and I agree, they're very cute. I think they all look like grumpy old men. :-)Sweet that you left the rug so Mr. Toad could continue to use as a shelter! Good karma points for you. :-)
Your kindness to Mr. toad will be rewarded in heaven. I heart toads, too. Could hardly wait to open this to see the pics! :)
Certainly are not lovable and cuddly, but great photos!
I like to see them from a distance.
Toads cute? God love ya, girl. :-)
Um, I'm not so sure about them being cute but that was very nice of you to leave him his "home!" :)
...me, too!awwww...he's cute! love the photos.
Whoops I amost missed this entry which I like very much. A few years ago we had a toad living on our front porch. I talked to him/her everytime I saw it.
I love toads as well! Just saw one in my garden the other day. This guy is really cute!
Cute! I like a hoppy creature too.
He's a big one.
I do, too! He's a cutie!
Toads are interesting..... Sometimes I think they are thousands of years old .....!Rain
It bears wonderful texture!
Cute toad! I was wondering what that thing was next to him...thought it was a slug, or something.
Many many people in the Caribbean are afraid of them. I don't know why.
So heeee ....... that's quite a thick pad lol .... What cool that you could photograph it so beautiful :-)
I'm catching up here!! LOVE your pictures of your deck toad!! He's working very hard for you as plump as he is!! Wonderful little creatures of God!!
I love seeing toads hopping around my patio and gardens. They are awfully cute.
i ask them to keep it down at night but they tend to ignore me.
i missed this one. he is so cute. a big fat regular toad. Jake picked on e up and it peed in his mouth and boy did he foam.. glad you left the rug
