My First Ever Indigo Bunting

I was thrilled to spot this gent at the birdfeeder tree one day. I took a bazillion shots of him, so you'll be seeing/suffering through future posts featuring this gorgeous bird.

my gosh Theresa, wouldn't you just go crazy with the camera when you saw him - spectacular. Almost didn't see the Savannah Sparrow (sweet as he is too) it blended in so well to the ground and eyes focussed on the BLUE boy; great pickup, you must've got such a thrill

Oh, he's a beauty! I love the Indigo Buntings. My hubby told me just recently that he'd seen one down behind our pond, so I'm hoping he'll make his way to our finch feeder. Looking forward to more of your shots!

Indigo Buntings are SO gorgeous. They're a rare sight for us, so I can understand why you went wild with your camera. I didn't even see the sparrow in that first picture until I saw your comment. He blended in perfectly with the background.

We saw our first Indigo buntings when we spent a winter in Port Aransas, your fair state! woke up one morning to the "backyard" (lot behind the RV) blooming with blue. I was so excited I screamed. One of my very best bird memories ever.

This is one of the most beautiful birds I know. I have seen one in person (without a camera of course)

Theresa, this is wonderful for you. Maybe you'll get really lucky and have a pair nest there. The range for these little beauties is in you neck of the woods. Even where I live. Years ago I saw one in June when out on a field trip. And once in the spring I saw a male at my feeders but that was before progress enveloped the neighborhood.
