Teals and Turtles

A few Blue-Winged Teal Ducks stopped in earlier this spring.

The turtles didn't mind the duck parade.

I only got one shot of the hens showing a bit of their blue wing.

The drakes didn't flash me. :)

What a straight line they made! It's fun to see the patterns of their movement as well as the birds themselves...

You do have a great variety of ducks around your pond. Those turtles are really large, do they nip your toes?

That bit of blue is really nice! I always find that turtle pose a bit odd, with their head held up like that.

I like ducks, but I just can't get enough of turtles! And this reminds me that I need to check out my favorite turtle spa, a little nearby pond that has an old log floating in it - where the cute turtles congregate on a sunny day.

I wish we could send you the turtle my son brought home after someone dumped it at the PETCO nearby. It's a red eared slider, which looks like what you've got in your pond. They are southern, not native to this area. The turle is too big for his tank, probably why someone dumped it, and needs a new home. We are not permanent turtle keepers, and feeding him fish ever few days is getting..old. *sigh*

Mind if I slip him into your pond?...lol..

Molly The Wally said...

Wow those turtles are huge. You can see how big by the ducks. Have a terrific Tuesday.
Best wishes Molly

I adore turtles. I saw quite a few out sunning when we visited Texas one warm week in March.
And we found an empty turtle shell that we brought home to MN. I've been wondering what kind of turtles those are, that you have in Texas?
We mainly have painted / mud turtles and snapping turtles here.
