i have heard a lot of folks lately saying how this winter will be a bad one for snow & all ... we will see. i love that bird feeder ... curious as to where the see goes though? ( :

Great captures. I"m glad you get to enjoy them too.
These little guys are pretty in both summer and winter. I hope the ones that hang out on my yard come to visit you. I know they will be well taken care of there.
I think you have the makings of some cards here, many would enjoy! Lovely goldfinches against the green!
Love the last ones with the birdbath. Have a serene Sunday.Best wishes Molly

I didn't realize goldfinches migrated south as we have them here all year. How interesting!
a beautiful visitor..can't wait to see the new ones this year...
The Goldfinch is one of our favorites! Love that black feeder :)
Wait! What?? Ours disappeared a long time ago - they should have been there by now: those laggards!!Love your photos of them.
I think you could stop taking photos and still have enough in reserve for several years worth of blog posts!
Good shots from that little bird.Greetings, Joop
One of my happiest memories is when Jim and I would sit on our back porch and watch the goldfinches. They nested each year on a big tree just across the street from us. Lovely photos. Thank you for the memory.
Goldfinches are amazing. Ours have turned olive-colour. They are so pretty at the feeders!Cheers from Cottage Country Ontario , ON, Canada!
These guys only hang around here when the feeders are out. I like them in the spring when they start turning really bright!
So that's where my "State Bird' goes in the winter!
They are such sweet little birds. Ours stay around all year long.
You're right about Amercan Robin and Fieldfare. They do look very alike as they are closely related Turdus pilaris (Fieldfare) and Turdus migratorius (American Robin). Somewhere in the dim and distant past they went their separate ways - one east, one west.Don't get me started on our respective Goldfinches now! But I do like your bright yellow one.
i think you're getting my gold finches visiting you from up northern Indiana where I resideyou have such nice bird feeders and bathsare you trying to 'seduce' my birds, mi amiga?
Exquisite photos! Really very beautiful bird, great!
Good pictures of this beautiful bird.
I don't think I've ever seen one down here.
It won't be long now! You do need another birdbath, I think!
They're so cute and their colours are so pretty.
So cute and colorful!! Love them!!
How nice these turned out. I really like that bird feeder.
Yesterday I came across a goldfinch on the sidewalk, weakly fluttering and gasping. I didn't know what to do for it, so i left it alone. Poor thing!
A pretty series of the American Goldfinch in a variety of settings. It will be good to see them return.
Lovely little Finches.
I really like the first one of the little bird at the bird bath.
The little buggers are here already. I noticed them thick as flies on the thistle feeder yesterday.
I love those cute little gold Finches and love it more when they come to the feeder.Hugs,JB
That's a neat feeder you've got there for your little friends...They are such a beautiful bird and you really did get some awesome shots...I love the one with the light shining on him....
One of my favorite birds, look forward to watching them out my window every February.
They look like velvet! I know they'll be back to your ranch because it's the best place in town for critters. :)
beautiful, they look like they'd eat out of your hand..
Very cool feeder. I haven't seen many gold finches here , love it when we do. Nice series.

Love the shot of the bird drinking water. So calming!MersadMersad Donko Photography
You did well to capture this one hiding among the leaves. They don't stay in one place long and are hard to photograph. But, oh, they're so beautiful.
T, our Goldfinches stay with us for the winter. I so like these little guys. Especially in the summer when they are so bright!
I hope we get some interesting birds here this winter...but I won't be surprised if we don't.Lindahttp://coloradofarmlife.wordpress.com http://deltacountyhistoricalsociety.wordpress.com

So the little pots o gold are headed to Texas? :-) Haven't seen them around here since late July. I'd be willing to upgrade the bird buffet if they'd come back. :-)
We had lots of goldfinches this summer. Haven't seen any lately. They may have just put on their winter coats, but maybe they are headed your way.

We only see goldfinches every few winters here in south Florida. Very nice images!
We spent a little time watching some birds today...you are definitely an inspiration...thought of you...Thanks!
We have lots of goldfinches up here, I didn't realize they were going to leave for the winter. If you happen to see the one I call Napolean (you'll know him if you see him), tell him I'll be waiting for him in the Spring.
I will tell our birds in CT to head your way. They should go where the good seeds are!
The goldfinches are so pretty! Great shot with reflection on the birdbath water! Hope they arrive soon!
They are lovely little guys and we like to see them in the summer too.Cheers,Jo
What a sweet one!
pretty little fellows
I hope you see them real soon. They are so pretty!! Blessings,Gert
I didn't see any gold finches here this summer.
I like the feeder in the first photos. It looks like art.
They left our part of Oregon shortly before we did, so they're probably on their way ;>)
I love these birds, they are our state bird and seeing their bright pop of gold in the brush is always a delight!
What lovely, sweet birds. I love the photos where he/she is nestled in the tree.
I'll send mine to you! I think they are fueling up for the flight! They are eating MANY black sunflower seeds!
Looks like some of them are giving you the eye! I'm losing birds and you're gaining them.
I love these little rays of sunshine.
Oh I'm so happy to see your post about Gold Finches! I've always wanted to attract them, and even bought thistle seed. Then one day, just outside my window I captured a few shots of what I think is a Gold Finch...(maybe you remember the one photo in my last post?) Now that I see your shots, I'm more positive that's what it is! I never see them eat the thistle seed that I've put out though???
He's a cutie! We have gold finches too. But so far it's the cardinals who are showing up and giving me hard stares. "Where is the feeder? We could use some sunflowers seeds out here!"
Goldfinches back in time for Christmas sounds good.Cheers - Stewart M - Melbourne.PS; I almost feel well today - thankfully!
Awww, so sweet! I love the Goldfinch checking out its reflection ~Lindy

The birds do a great job to tell time and season.
I guess they're on their way, all but gone from here. They are cute little buggers.
So you take care of some of my finches over the Winter? Thanks! Actually many stay here even then, they just lose their colour. Great pictures!

Beautiful photos! I on the other hand am watching with sadness the departure of those fair feathered friends leaving us before winter arrives!
Like you, we can't wait for the little bundles of sunshine to show up for the holidays!
