Good Morning T. I'd say he's got a little bit of something going there. That last shot he's hanging on by a toe it looks like :)
I've never seen a woodpecker at my birdfeeders...!Great shots!
What dynamic photos and a beautiful bird. Thanks for posting.
Oh yeah, look at that beautiful red head. And amazing acrobatics, too - he must be kin to the one that hangs on my suet feeder. ;)
What a beautiful hat and coat he has! These shots are just gorgeous.
He's also brave as he challenges the squirrels on the feeders around here....:)
I can do all of that. Kind'da ;)!!
The bigger birds do find a way to use the little birds' feeder.
what a show off. i love wood peckers. miss my feeder for that reason so much. they really are awesome birds. ( :
style sure, grace? maybe not. LOL
I like how he's hanging on by one toe in the last photo. lol
Intereating one toe hold technique! They have the silkiest looking bright red heads and you got it perfectly!!
Where there's a will, there's a way. :)
Interesting* not Intereating!
So very beautiful hat!!!Nice day Crissi
What a show off! :)
Hi TexWis! Oh, our Northern Flicker has the same spotty back. VERY pretty woodpecker!
Hanging by a talon! Love it, Tex. He's a talented guy and I'm impressed! :-)
He's very dexterous!!
Again, your photos are stunning. We've had a red-bellied come to our feeders. All fall he would take seed by seed, fly away with it to hide it in a tree. Worse than the squirrels, stocking up for the winter. He was probably here last year, and knew the larder goes empty when we leave for warmer climates. (Other neighbors, stay all winter and provide for the birds)
What an acrobat! Great shots, sweetie!
I love these colors ... it's beautiful!
Now there's a nice red head for you to enjoy. Amazing that people try to imitate this bird by dyeing their hair red. lol.Hugs,JB
It is a Beautiful, lovely.
Wouldn't I love to see that beautiful bird at our feeder! Fantastic photos!
What an incredibly lustrous red on his head! beautiful shots, especially the acrobatic last one.
They sure are beautiful creatures! I'm glad I don't have to work that hard for my food, though!
A very pretty boy indeed! It's snowing like crazy here... they're calling for 5":@)
Brilliant color of red! I like the looks of that bird feeder. . .squirrel proof?
Nice bird photos!
OMD those are beautiful shots. Just amazing. Thank you for your kind words. We feel the house is empty and too many reminders. Have a terrific Tuesday.Best wishes Molly
That last one is absolutely like a trapeze artist!!
We get these beauties here, too - Several types of woodpeckers amaze me here, in warmer months - I am glad when the larger birds figure out how to grab a snack from the feeders . . (either they are poorly designed - or i need to find a collection of feeders . . . (giggle - if you could see my collection you would laugh . . )It seems, no matter what i do, i am not going to find whistling ducks in my yard - only imaginary ones at story time . . . Happy Day to YOU!!!
He certainly does. Love the red hair ! looks like a cute little punk :)
Well that certainly is a lot better capture of a woodpecker than the one I just posted, but I got some clouds though, to make up for it. Just kidding here, I love this shot of the bird and his clever moves to get to the food. Looks like he was thinking about it first. How to do it.
Oh my goodness! He's wonderful. :). Thank you so much for sharing your photos of him. They make my early morning!
I love them!
Terrific shots of this show off! Beautiful markings!
Wherever he can find wood huh?I hope that you guys got some relief from the cold weather.
Do you think he is showing off, Tex? Certainly is a beauty with that flashy red head!Great photos!Jo, Stella and Zkhat

He does have a lot of grace! It's amazing how he can cling like that and eat at the same time. Great shots!

I think we have his or her relative that visits us. They are gorgeous aren't they?
Goodness, what a contortionist! I've never understood why these are called red-bellied, when it's their head that's red? I did manage to shoot one the other day and was so excited. We hardly ever see woodpeckers!
What Lovely colours he has....reminds of our but we have him black, White and red
Oh wow at that last shot!MersadMersad Donko Photography
He is a beautiful boy!! The red-bellied is one of my favorite visitors, always announcing their arrival before I even see them. Love these!
Stunning shots, was he just trying to work out the best position, or do they all perform acrobatic poses? So good to see feeders, where I live no need for that even in the middle of our winter. But we make sure bird baths are filled with water in the summer. Cheers, Jean.
He's got style; he's got grace,And beautiful feathers on his face!
What an adorable acrobat he is!
I can see him in Las Vegas, showy, that one!

This is not a common woodpecker to our area so anytime that I get to see it at a feeder, I pay close attention. One of the many lovely woodpeckers!
Did you rub his head for luck?
Who said you didn't listen to the radio.
OMG...What a handsome dude he is...beautiful.
Great pics. We have the downy and hoary woodpeckers "hanging" around our suet feeders. And the other day we had a pileated one stop by but he was too fast for me to get a pic. 'love & hugs from afar'
