Just a Few Icy Photos

from last week's cold snap. We didn't get snow here - just a couple of days of ice hanging on the trees, fences, roofs.

Ice is beautiful! Not for driving or walking...but, on branches and fences.

I always love stopping by your blog. It's such a comfort to me. I stay chronically homesick. Merry Christmas and have a fabulous New Year in my home state. I hope it's the year we get to move back.

Your winter is very mild as compared to our. We have lots of snow on the ground and it' -12 C. or 10.4 F.
The sun is shining and the snow is glistening like fairy dust. Very pretty...

Keep warm.
Hugs,
JB

Pix Under the Oaks said...

Freezing rain is pretty when the sun hits it but it skeers me. I hate what it does to the trees! Crackin' and pop!! Strange to see that in your bit of country Tex!

MarkD60 said...

Day after tomorrow, the days start getting longer again!

Alica said...

I would imagine that's a bit unusual for you! Ice can be really pretty, as long as it doesn't break down power lines and tree branches!

Barb Brookbank said...

I don't imagine that happens very often - makes for nice sparkly photos but I hope no damage to trees, etc.

stiefbeen said...

Ja dat kan zomaar gebeuren, maar je hebt er wel mooie foto,s aan over gehouden.

Those icy days do make for pretty pictures, but that's about all!!!

Jan n Jer said...

I love that last shot...looks like mini lights shining from the branches. Hope your warming up by now! The temps are going up in our neck of the woods also...YAY

Beth said...

Ice is beautiful to look at but not to be out in. I would rather have snow than ice but I can do nicely without either one. :-)

Leovi said...

Wonderful landscape cold winter in these beautiful photos!

Mariette VandenMunckhof-Vedder said...

Dearest Theresa,
We too get seldom snow but such an icy display changes the world for a few hours. One needs to grab the camera rather quick as it soon is melted.
Hugs,

Well at least you got a bit of weather. :)

Ice puts on a magical show. I love the drops hanging from the fence.

Love the barn shot, although that barn would look good in all seasons!
Peeing down here in the UK with just our first wintery slush mixed in with the rain, the snow must be imminent.

Sylvia K said...

Love your barn and the droplets of water!! Stay warm!!

Lisa Sall - Sall's Country Life said...

Oooo,Love that barn! Those are pretty pathetic icicles by South Dakota Standards. I bet it's a nice change of scenery for Texans? We're in for more snow later today, I'm hoping for some good photo opps and having my you-know-what froze off!

These are beautiful icy photos, but I do know how Texas is known from some black icy roads at times, and they aren't quite as pretty!

don said...

The ice can be a pretty trim to object when it's light and doesn't weigh to the breaking point. Nice shots.

Paul said...

You are fortunate that's all the ice you got... I understand that the ice really played havoc in a few nearby states.
Ice is certainly photogenic though, nice pictures!

Bob Bushell said...

Icy, wow, we haven't had any, YET.

That kind of ice is beautiful and makes for some great photo ops, but it can be nasty, too, bringing down power lines and tree limbs and making mobility almost impossible.

Sally said...

I bet it's really cold though! :)

A lovely photograph of the barn, seemingly quiet in the early morning.

Frosty days can be good if there's no slipping and sliding.

Ice in Texas...that does not sound right :-) Hope the tree branches did not break. Love your barn shot. It’s always FUN to go see E.

Paula said...

We didn't get ice this far down. It looks pretty there. Did someone fix the barn door? It's such a pretty barn but I kind of liked it lopsided if that is the same barn.

SquirrelQueen said...

I love your shot of the icy branches and the red barn! Ice on the trees is pretty to look at but I can do without it. So far we have had none.

Margaret said...

Your red barn door - it's not lop sided anymore! Your barn looks like it is freshly painted to. Very pretty.
