A Three Egret Day

Three Great Egrets at the pond all at one time - spaced a bit apart, but still a rare occurrence to get more than two landed at once.
Egret 1 fishing

A pair of Gadwalls swim right through his reflection

Nearby, Egret 2 hanging out among resting Whistling Ducks

Egret 3 a bit further down the shore enjoying some personal space

The great egret seems to be a loner, so it is surprising to see three at one time. Around our lakes here, they are usually spaced very far apart. Anyway, love the photo with the whistlers. :)

I've always thought of egrets and herons as being kind of loner birds. I don't think I've ever seen two in the same pond around here, but they don't seem to mind ducks and geese. I guess they are no competition.

Outnumbered by the whistlers -- but they don't seem at all intimidated. Egrets run all over around here -- on the lawns and in the water. But I never tire of them.

Dearest Theresa,
That is indeed a very rare opportunity to capture three great egrets! Lovely silhouette too.
By the way, I checked your translator out, in Dutch and I could not leave a comment, it left a very strange message... will email it to you.
Maybe that Microsoft translator would work better without causing any problems.
Hugs,

Looks like siesta time for the Whistling Ducks. Three egret day--why does this remind me of Three Dog Night? Are you sending subliminal messages again? ;) Apparently word has gotten out that The Run*A*Round is the place to be.
