Good Fences #1

Looks like very lonely Lone Star Estates
Welcome to the Good Fences link-up which will open here every Thursday morning. Thank you, Jan, at Life According to Jan and Jer, for handing off the baton of Friday's Fences which she began and ran for two years. Since I'm opening the link on Thursday mornings instead of evenings, I've renamed the meme to Good Fences, as in Robert Frost's saying, "Good fences make good neighbors." Anyone who has ever had livestock (or livestock next door) will easily agree with that statement, and probably most folks who've had humans living next door, too. ;)

Although I've participated in plenty, I'm new to hosting a link-up, but I'm keeping this one simple - just a list without thumbnails (most fence photos are landscape shots which wouldn't show much detail in the thumbnail anyway) and pretty easy rules, too:

1. Link in a post featuring a photo or photos of fences or gates.
2. Link back to Run*A*Round Ranch Report in your post or use the badge code to display the Good Fences button in your post that automatically links back here. If you have trouble with the code and just want the badge emailed to you, let me know. I'm easy that way. ;)
3. If time allows, please visit some of the other participants and comment on their shared posts.

Thanks, all!

ooo...I do want to try this. Hope I get everything to work.

Either it used to be there or never took off. It is a nice entrance.

Looks like the original idea may have been sidetracked? Impressive gate nonetheless.

Happy to be able to participate today in your first linky. Thanks for hosting, T. xo

I just wanted to give you a biggo Texas Howdy, and show you a partial fence today!! Hope it is okay...I rarely get a chance to photograph a 'good fence'!!!

Good Luck in your new meme Ms. T!!!

It doesn't look like the 'Estates' ever came into being. Looks like someone's dream wasn't realized. Looks like a beautiful Texas day.
Having internet issues this morning, up...down...up finally! Looking forward to participating.

That ESTATE certainly looks like a Lone Star . . . Congrat's to you on Good Fences. I hope to join you at some point. I asked Mr. Irish late last evening if he knew of any gates or fences around here . . . He looked at me, very perplexed . . . and I said, "oh . . . never mind."

Dearest Theresa;
Congratulations on your very first "Good Fences" linking☆☆☆
Oh "Lone Star" wonderful picture!

Sending you lots of love and hugs from Japan to my American photographer friend, xoxo Miyako*

The Lone Star topping the sign gives it a definite air of distinction. A beautiful gate!

I've missed a couple real good gates leading into ranches so far, the usual reasons - no place to turn around or pull over. Thanks for taking care of me on your grand opening of Good Fences.

Thanks so much for hosting this meme, T!

Would you mind emailing the badge to me? I had trouble getting it to show up with the code. I must be doing something wrong.

A fun new blog -- wish I had a chance to see some fences, but here in the oldest part of Portland one doesn't see many, if any fences! But I'll be visiting just the same and if I do find a fence, I'll "capture" it!!

I can't seem to find any photos of fences but I'm looking forward to seeing what people post. Take care.

Is the left side really lower than the right, or is it an optical illusion due to the camera angle?

Okay, I'm not very good at this, but I'll try.

I wouldn't necessarily call it lonely, I'd call it peaceful. Not having someone living right up next to you sounds wonderful.

Wouldn't be so lonely if it would just join the other 49. ;-) Good luck with the Good Fences. Maybe I'll have a true fence shot to share soon.

This is exciting Theresa. Thanks for taking over this meme and hosting it. I think it will continue to be a busy one. The photo sure looks like the farm/ranch is a long way off the little used road.

Well, look what I found on my visit to your blog. A new (or renewed) fence meme. I doubt that I will be a regular contributor, since I am too ornery to let memes tell me what photos to take, but from time to time when I have a fence photo to share, I hope I will remember to place it here on a Thursday! Good luck, and thanks for your occasional visits.

I had to head in to town before the sun was really up yesterday and I took my favorite little backroad... the steam was rising off the ponds... beautiful fences... I thought about you AND then immediately thought I'd had to miss my Whistler Wednesday because I left so early! LOL! I'll go see them now. blessings ~ tanna

Egad! I forgot to comment on the hostess' image! (*smacks forehead*)

I certainly like the gate entryway. Yes, it looks lonely, but that looks really welcoming to me right now. I'm craving some wide open spaces. Would love to take a drive down the tree-lined lane.

Thanks for picking up this meme for Jan.

Lone Star Estates does look lonesome. Is it a private ranch? Or was it intended to be a housing development that never...well...developed?

Yep...does look lonely. I did see many things in this photo...a road less traveled.. a field to the right that might be freshly turned and that is hope...fencing to the left so might not new things be happening and fencing added to the right and a long avenue of trees told of things past, etc. A good storytelling photo!!!
