You are so lucky to have those beautiful Cardinals. We wish we had such beautiful coloured birds.Have a serene big easy Sunday.Best wishes Molly
They are all beautiful still, in flight or swimming.
We have lots of cardinals around our bird feeder. Lately I noticed only one who is hanging around, and I wonder at the absence of its mate?!
So beautiful shots and birds!Nice day Crissi
So many nice birds. I miss the colorful varieties now that I'm here in Europe. Most birds are brown, black or gray.
They must be the source of happiness.
Ah, life on the pond!
That IS a sweet looking little cowbird (almost typed "cowgirl"!)Happy Sunday!
I wonder if there is 2-1 of the boys, well, tell me. Lovely pictures.
Looks as if your pond is filling up for the spring. What a cute little cowbird that is sitting there so sweetly.
I love the cardinals and the cowbird!
love that header dive...
I love that you caught the cardinal in action

Great shots! I love the Mallards. They are my favorite!Hope you've been well! Sorry I haven't been by as much lately. Trying to get back in the swing of things!
Lovely, what a colorful, in my area there are no such :) Greets from Poland
What a perfect Sunday morning you created for us!!! Beautiful.
Amusement park fun for the cardinals! I've always wondered why it is the males are so pretty, while the females are...umm..a little boring? :)
Nice shots! Love the dive shot.
Te czerwone ptaszki są piękne:)
Cardinals aren't known for cooperating with photographers. ;))
Peaceful shot of the little cowbird.
That cowbird seems to melt away among the branches. Can't say the say for the cardinals!
Just whats hanging out at the Run*Around*Ranch! Thanks for sharing it all with us.We do have sunshine this morning and looking at 50 degrees during this day.Going up to 60s by Wednesday. Its gotta be Spring!Cheers and hugs,Jo, Stella and Zkhat
You captured them! How perfect.
Dearest Theresa;Your Brown-Headed Cowbird is SO adorable♡♡♡ Whistlers seemed to be checking on the Mallard drakes :-) Sending you lots of love and hugs from Japan to my American photographer friend, xoxo Miyako*
Your blog is for the birds! (in a good way!!!)
Always like seeing the Cardinals. I wonder why they don't spread out over here to Montana? I've only seen one in person in my life, in 2007; A female showed up on my birdbath after a huge wind/rain/hailstorm blew through our area. I was pretty excited to see her!
He's in free fall. :-) Nice one of the cowbird! I like the crisscrossing branches. Not sure if it's just me, but the mallards seem to have very yellow bills. More so than what I usually see.
Despite their parasitic habits, I also think the female cowbirds are pretty and sweet looking. I once had a one-legged female hanging around for a while and she was always accompanied by a seemingly devoted male.
Shutters can be very noisy.
Any idea where the name cowbird derives?
I think you did a fantastic job with the Cardinals. I wish we had such a colorful bird here. The ducks are glad you pond has a good amount of water.
Love all the birds. with all the birds I'm seeing around here,I still always hope for a Cardinal. If I ever get my lens on one,you will likely hear my squeal of delight all the way to Texas. LOL
Love those iridescent heads on the mallard lads. Sweet little grey job between all those showy boys.
Very nice shots...those Cardinals are such a lovely red, love the beautiful ducks.
Great variety of birds there, Tex! But, shouldn't the Whistling ducks be in front of the Mallards. They are too cute to be in the back..LOL! Happy Sunday!
So you got an action photo of the cardinals. Very cool.
Fun variety for the day!! I love the little Cowbird!!
You sure to have a nice selection of critters. Really nice shots of the cowbird. I like the monochromatic tones.
I'm so sorry we did not have these beautiful cardinals in the Netherlands, as I find them really beautiful!
You have always got something awesome going on!
Lovin' the free falling cardinal:@)
That cardinal looks like a magic trick.Do you sometimes wonder what they are thinking - what they are like inside themselves??? The cowbird sure looks sweet.Thank you so much for sharing your amazing work with us.
Beautiful cardinals and ducks,Tex!!Great pictures!!Dimi...
nice close ups t....those cardinals are quick, you have to be quicker!!the mallards are beautiful, i am always excited to see them!!
I love the female cowbirds....hope you are getting some of the rain...
Always a happy place to land in blggerville.
Cowbirds are so cool.
The birds are beauriful!!
I have only seen cardinals a couple of time. They are such a pretty color.. Love your snaps this morning.. Hugs~
The cowbird is pretty, too! Those whistlers are always fun to see!
the cardinal does look like he's falling.
Always a 'zoo' at the ranch! :)I'll have to keep an eye out. I always get the male cowbirds but don't recall seeing a female.
Hi I looked at some of your post. Have to say I'm jealous of the horses and the space around you! I love that picture of the bird falling! Amazing timing. New follower. Well done..
Very nice today.
Lovely serie, great photos!
Dearest Theresa,You are feeding quite some bird tummies every day and it is funny to observe how they mingle together. Relaxing after filling up looks cozy too.Hugs,Mariette
Beautiful birds. We are pleased to watch your wonderful pictures. Greetings.
Love the cardinals. I miss seeing them here. There used to be several right outside my window when I lived in the Twin Cities. I guess there's not enough evergreens here.
Tex you have managed to catch some cool and comical birds in flight lately!
T, lovely shots! Wish I had a pond visited by Mallards! Well, actually I do but it's not in my back yard!
Pretty birds all of them, but especially the cardinals.
You DID manage to get those three cardinals in one shot. Good for you!
Looks like a peaceful day at home, Tex!
Well we can see there were 3! Enjoyed your photos.
Hi tex. you have great birds at your ranch however those Cardinals are smashing.
A nice variety of images.
The beauty in that bird! Beautiful colors and feathers!
I love the dinner at the top . These little ones are sure beautiful. Our geese are just returning and we still have a bit of snow. Happy April.. and no I cant keep up. :) but Im here again.
Cardinals chirping in the sprinkler is one of my favorite sounds.
Lovely birds !
Hi Theresa, Love the ducks! You also took nice pictures of the songbirds. A really happy post. Have a fantastic coming week!
The Whistlers look like they are watching the Mallard show.
Awesome photography work. Thanks!
Your place is like a bird sanctuary. I can tell that you love it!!
You have so much activity on and beside your lake. All those guests, they must keep you busy at the Reception Desk ;D)xx
Now here we see the results of the cowbird being a parasite to other birds. It's pretty awful to see a chipping sparrow feeding a bird twice as big as itself.
Love that first shot with the one coming in for a landing.
So many sweet birds!xo Catherine
love that first pic!
Oh, such a sweet looking little girl. I really like that you caught the one cardinal as he flew away.
You know I like seeing those Cardinals!
The Cardinal taking a dive ended up making a great photo! The cowbird looks so relaxed and comfortable.
A nice set. You made me smile with the cardinal "taking a header" off the branch. :)
love the yellow bills. gorgeous birdies at your place. ( :
Love the beautiful mallards! It's so nice of the whistlers to share their pond!!! :)
Ruby Red feathered, Onyx-eyed black, and Emerald crowns...God sure has a brilliant color box to choose from.
I couldn't let your comments sit at 100. LOL I could sit and watch the wildlife at your pond all day. Lovely!
Run*A*Round Ranch, has to be bird central for your part of Texas...Those Cardinals are certainly bright this time of year!
I spotted another new bird in the yard today, I spent a lot of time trying to identify it. I said to Hubbers, I might just have to put it on the blog and see if anyone knows what it is. I bet Tex will know! I finally found it this afternoon, a female Brown-headed Cowbird! Wish I had of stopped by your blog earlier today!!!
Hello little birdies! I'm trying to ease my feathered friends off their dependence on my bird feeders because bears have been seen around the neighborhood and I don't want to attract them.
Yeah!! You got the three male cardinals! They have been plentiful this winter!! Then the four drakes not paired off yet!! They better get busy!!
So beautiful red birds! :)
Love them all!I always experience a little cardinal envy when I see them.. they're so striking!
Tex would you please send some of those ducks our way? I LOVE ducks, not sure where that stems from but must be from my childhood on the farm. It's definitely bird season and I'm loving it! Wishing you a wonderful week!
Nice to see all your photos. Mallard drakes paddle goes in a straight line. Looks beautiful!
Great share and I always smile, those Whistlers are always right there, so sweet are Cardinals~
Really beautiful shots.
Love the little one more! Beautiful swam of ducks :)
You just have to love those male cardinals. So bright and red. They remind me of a .... :~)
Hope that cardinal recovered his balance. .. that was quite a dive he took!
i just love your beautiful cardinals!xo
Oh wow, love the red cardinal! :-)
Those cardinals are always hopping around messing up my shots! The female cowbird is an understated beauty. Nice captures!
You gotta be quick with those cardinals.
Great series!!!A Kiss.
Must be spring break for everyone! :D~Lindy
I've been trying to get some pictures of birds around here, not that I know anything about them...but although I have a discreet feature on my camera, it's not good at focusing. Frustrating.
The diving cardinal looks like he needs a parachute.
