Handsome one. Happy Easter to you Tex and all your family and we hope you have a lovely day.Best wishes Molly
That is a huge, beautiful bird. Great photos!
did you give up first?
love the posterior shot with the long sinuous neck view. herons are a good sign in the prairie this early time of year. like the the eagle in the low lands where the streams are clear and running fast or the doves and ospreys near the oceans at sunrise or sunset they if you let us fly in clear and clean skies we will show you our wondrous dress attire.happy easter, mi amiga
Tex, wonderful series! The Heron is keeping a watch on things! Happy Easter!

He has a good cover with the grasses. His eyes and beak give him away. Nice photos.

Great shots! He couldn't mess up a good shot even if he tried. Must be Heron day, I posted one, too.
Good job! They usually don't like being stalked.
Great shots, the grasses make for a very pleasant foreground. I saw another Great Blue Heron flying overhead yesterday. My second sighting this week while driving around. Lovely to see in flight.
Happy Easter, beautiful pictures of a very interesting bird, Blessings Francine.
Beautiful photos...Have a great Easter....hugs, Bugsy, Knuckles and HH(Lou posted the painting of your word on April 11)

I love the heron, always hiding.
You managed to get some good shots of him anyway. He was obviously elusive and avoiding contact.
It goes its way, and you are on your way.
they always make you work for it....but it doesn't matter, the moment is exciting!!
Are there fish and frogs in the pond? Well of course or the Heron wouldn't be there, I suspect.MB
Wonderful photos!Happy Easter to you and your family!
That neck! What was your zoom Tex? I mean, just how close were you able to get? Our one lonely heron doesn't trust us.. ;)
Great shots - some look like impressionist paintings!
Handsome fellow!! Love that neck!!
What a wonderful-looking bird. YOu must have done a good job stalking without scaring him off.
I like the herons birds!Great shots!Happy Easter Tex!!Dimi...
The Blue Heron is a large and beautiful bird to see. You have therefore they can shoot very beautiful. Sorry for my late response but I had no internet until last Friday
Great bird.. Love heron and others egrets.. Congrats
He looks amazing!!! What fantastic photos! He also looks up to no good- something is about to be eaten!x
He was trying to blend in. Nice shots!
I'm going to miss the fast internet we've had this past week, it's impossible to view all your lovely photos when we don't have a good connection. So, if you don't hear from me for a while it's not that I'm not out there....it's just too hard to access the internet to keep in touch. Such is the way of the nomadic life.
I can picture you on your deck and stalking this guy!
Yeah, RedPat's right; you're a stalker but a VERY good one.Great shots, T.
They are beautiful, if gawky birds
Don't you love it when they play 'up periscope' and do a fair imitation of a giraffe?
Peek a boo!Aloha
Hidden by the grasses, colour blending to perfect cover, that tall neck, what a super series. Happy Easter, Jean.
Beautiful! He's very well hidden among the branches.
Oh he is just beautiful, and how privileged you are to have this amazing visitor! Think you did a pretty good job at the stalking. Blessings to you on this easter day! and of course all of the other time too!
So elegant! Fabulous shots!
Really nice pictures. I got to go on the annual count at our local heronry last week. It was grey Herons though. There were about 70 active nests. From Findlay
These shots must have been exciting to take-he is cute and elegant at the same time.

Super set in stealth mode.Happy Easter Theresa.
you are pretty close arent you? It looks great!
You have good stalker skills. I've seen him in flight a few times recently but there's not enough open water for a stopover yet.
Love, love, love these!!!!
T, great sneak ups! Looks like you got pretty close!
Nice shots - they are always so wary!! I can never get too close to one in this area.
Nice Heron. I love this series.
Neat series. The "eye" was watching you very carefully!

Stalking the stalker. A tough job but you did really well....:)
they are sneaky....good shots...Happy Easter...
He's so well camouflaged, it's a wonder you even saw him. I think you got some great shots.
You're not a bad stalker :) That 7th shot down was especially neat, with the eye perfectly framed by branches. Love the shadowy mist of the background. Happy Easter, Theresa!
What an elegant creature. Happy Easter to you and your family.
They are such beautiful birds! You'll never guess what I seen in our creek? A beaver! I wasn't expecting to see anything so I didn't have my camera out and ready. I did have my camera with me though.
Great blue herons are always cool.
So lovely. A few months ago a blue heron flew over my house . . it was such a surprise. All day, all week, i waited for something marvelous to happen, as if the bird had brought super news along with it . . . it probably did, too - my life is always filled with astonishing good.
Lovely! You must have a lot of patience to wait out the birds to get the shots. I think the covering adds to the shots. :-)
If it weren't for that streak of blue on his head and neck - he would have blended in completely with the grasses. Happy Easter
Hope you and all the critters; feathered, furry, four legged, had a wonderful Easter!xo Catherine
Dearest Theresa,Your Great Blue Heron seems to be a great camouflage artist!Hugs,Mariette
Very cool pictures! There is an eerie quality.
He was watching you watch him watching you...Nice shots.

The life of nature photographed by you acquires another dimension.Yannis Politopoulos
Not the easiest of birds to creep up on.
They are so fun to stalk! Great shots of this handsome fella.
Great job stalking him!
When I try to stalk for a better shot, I always end up spooking the bird...I am not known for my quiet approach! Great shots!
Great pictures of the heron, I think it's fascinating birds. Have a great week ahead.
Bird stalking yielded some beautiful pictures. Isn't he lovely?
i can just imagine you both wearing your sneakers...
Ha ha…you stalking the stalker!!!
These are such shy birds... I'm surprised he didn't fly away while squaking loudly.Nice group of pictures!
A most handsome and true hunter of all times!
They are such elegant, patient hunters. :)
would love to sit around your pond and watch this great blue heron. i love these birds. they're beautiful, graceful. hope all is well. have a great night~
Great photos of him! How close were you able to get? I find the Egrets and Herons to be very skittish. They fly off even when I'm still a far distance away from them. This past week, I got some photos of some Egrets here. I haven't seen them all Winter. (But then, I also wasn't going out much to take photos because it was too cold.)
Really great photos!! so nice to get such nice visitor in your pond! :D
My very favorite big bird… Nice shots
