Keeping an Eye On Things

A Great Blue Heron along the pond. I tried to stalk the stalker for a little while.

Slipped behind cover for a moment.

And again!

love the posterior shot with the long sinuous neck view. herons are a good sign in the prairie this early time of year. like the the eagle in the low lands where the streams are clear and running fast or the doves and ospreys near the oceans at sunrise or sunset they if you let us fly in clear and clean skies we will show you our wondrous dress attire.

happy easter, mi amiga

I'm going to miss the fast internet we've had this past week, it's impossible to view all your lovely photos when we don't have a good connection.
So, if you don't hear from me for a while it's not that I'm not out there....it's just too hard to access the internet to keep in touch. Such is the way of the nomadic life.

RedPat said...

I can picture you on your deck and stalking this guy!

They are such beautiful birds! You'll never guess what I seen in our creek? A beaver! I wasn't expecting to see anything so I didn't have my camera out and ready. I did have my camera with me though.

So lovely. A few months ago a blue heron flew over my house . . it was such a surprise. All day, all week, i waited for something marvelous to happen, as if the bird had brought super news along with it . . . it probably did, too - my life is always filled with astonishing good.

Tina Fariss Barbour said...

Lovely! You must have a lot of patience to wait out the birds to get the shots. I think the covering adds to the shots. :-)

Tree Hugger - Suzan said...

If it weren't for that streak of blue on his head and neck - he would have blended in completely with the grasses.
Happy Easter

Great photos of him! How close were you able to get? I find the Egrets and Herons to be very skittish. They fly off even when I'm still a far distance away from them. This past week, I got some photos of some Egrets here. I haven't seen them all Winter. (But then, I also wasn't going out much to take photos because it was too cold.)
