I think doves are really special birds; they seem so placid and unoffensive with sweet natures; lovely photos
Morning Tex great Mourning dove shots. Two mornings/mournings:) Hug B
Doves seem to be universal, like love!...:)JP
Terrific captures and a willing subject!
Beautiful pics of the doves. This is one bird we have plenty of around here. Almost as many as sparrows. Still, I never get tired of seeing them.
Really nice pictures of the doves. I love their cooing and the sound they make when they take off.
Cute and elegant at the same time in their beige and gray feathers.
Such calm, quiet birds. Love the cooing.
Morning, love Doves, hey I'm a poet!!! Gorgeous pictures, thanks, Francine.
Doves are covered in subtle colours!
Love that, strutting his stuff, ha ha. Nice one.
So pretty! My mother kept doves at one time. They don't build good, sturdy nests, though. The nests they build in our eaves fall apart and the babies fall out and have to be taken to the wildlife rehab hospital to be raised and released.
We have lots of Mourning Doves here that stays year round. Great shots all the way around.Happy Earth Day.Hugs,JB
Very nice photos. I have a few outside my window that I enjoy watching/listening to.
Hij ziet er heel mooi en gezond uit.
Doing' what a pigeon does . . . I like the spotty feathers too.
Now he knows he is a handsome dove. Have a terrific Tuesday.Best wishes Molly
Great close-up shots! I love the pairs that settle in my pecan trees.
Woo, woo, woo. Pretty photos!I like the blue they have sprinkled around, making them dazzling.
LOVELY SHOTS AND HOW I DO LOVE THE SOUNDS OF THE COOING OF THESE BIRDS. SUCH A PEACEFUL SOUND. HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!
All your birds look so well fed! I'd hate to be the one to pay for all that bird food, but I'm sure they love it. Beautiful dove, Twx. :-)
Beautiful dove. They are so peaceful.
I saw a pair of them this morning on my walk!
Great looking bird - I like the black patches on the tips of the wings.Cheers - Stewart M - Melbourne
Dearest Theresa;Love the way you said "strutting"; great pictures of adorable sweet chunky guy♡♡♡Sending you lots of love and hugs from Japan to my American photographer friend, xoxo Miyako*
coo coo cooooooo so sweet... this morning just before it got really light, Jake kept looking up and there sat the biggest dove we have seen around here. he was cooing and cordling and it was to dark and to high to get a pic.
I love seeing your Mourning Doves. I rarely get to see one anymore, since the Eurasian Collared Doves have about taken over everything!
These guys look fat and happy.
such sweet birds. great detail here, twg!
Beautiful Dove! Great shades on its feathers.
Such sweet photos! we have a morning dove. There were two when we first lived here 4 years ago but now just one. Sings a very mournful song and perch's on top of a telephone pole in the back yard area. Yesterday I caught two fat robins pecking the ground. One had a huge worm in its mouth. You know I love those worms. When we walk on the grassy trails near our home I always put them back into the lawn. My hubby laughs at me but I know how good they are for the earth! I always cherish seeing your photos and reading your posts. I am going to make an effort to stop by more often as I have you as a very favorite blog to visit. Have a wonderful day. Hugs, Anne
What a nice variety of different looks you give us of the native dove. Soft and sleek with a peaceful look.
Strutting about like no other too! These are one of my favorites, and it's hearing their song even before seeing them that excites the new found birth of nature inside of me!
Lovely shots! Doves are pretty birds.
Just walking around saying, Yeah, I'm bad, I'm bad and don't anyone forget it! :))
very good shots. I have some right outside my door, and looking at your photos it is hard to believe those birds who fight like street brawlers every day is that nice calm looking bird in your pictures. I can't figure it out because I think these two are mates but it sounds like bones breaking they fight each other so hard.
I like the blue makeup.
Nice photos ! Our Morning Doves are frisky well at least the male is and the female seems to have a lot of head aches as she fly's off a lot lol !
I love doves. The sound they make, the way they interact with each other.
They have the sweetest faces!
Doves - aren't they amazing? Anywhere I've ever lived, they have come to stay . . i thought it was normal until neighbors started to point it out. Well, i think they are constant companions . . . lovely, tame, peaceful . . . . Hey! Great Day to YOU!!!
I love these birds. Always so sweet and they have beautiful markings.

Doves are so very special Great shots!
i have a few turtle doves that visit me in the mornings now that Spring has come. they whisper of where they've been in that spiritual tone. love dove's. i think that's why they symbolize 'peace' in many classic, religious and contemporary venues.have a nice day mi amiga
I like how you have versions from several directions. The piggy ones are very good, but it's nice to see the feather pattern on its back too. Very well done.
Nice mix of colors on the dove. Great shots.
I love the doves and their colors!! Beautiful!!
I used to think that Mourning Doves were plain brown birds. That was then and this is now.I no longer look at them as plain. Your pictures prove that point beautifully.
Very pretty!He/she may be in mourning, but sure is a fat little thing. :)
I love mourning doves. They're so gentle.
I like them also! So soft and gray and lovely!✿♥ღLindahttp://coloradofarmlife.wordpress.com
Doves and Pigeons are so photogenic. Nice group of pictures, I especially like the very last picture in this series!
Would you believe I always thought they were "morning" doves rather than "mourning" doves. Why are they in mourning?
Seems he loved posing for you. Love the spots. MB
Dearest Theresa,That looks like a fat mourning dove!Hugs,Mariette
Do you suppose he knows how handsome he is?
They are such sweet little birds
So beautiful Theresa... I've loved mourning doves since the day, as a wee kiddo, my grandmother told me that mourning doves sang to welcome people to heaven.
What lovely shots !Greetings
I do enjoy the morning Doves!! Especially their cooing!!When I hear them in the early morning hours, they take me back to my grandmother's farm in So. Indiana. Sitting on her breeze way next to the water pump, looking at the morning glories and listening to the doves and I'm 10 again :-}}}
He looks well fed and happy! Aren't doves some of the birds that mate for life?
I really like the blue round it's eyes. From Findlay

Doesn't he look pretty ! Very nice !
They are sweet! Wonderful series on the Mourning Dove, Tex!
Doves have one of my favorite bird calls, because it's one I heard so often from my bedroom window as a child.
I did not know the wings were so pretty. PS I tried to take some photos of a robin who came up close to my house...Hahahaha....You make it look easy. All of mine were out of focus!
Prissy thing! I like how they can puff up about twice their normal size!
Wonderful dove ... I liked it
My favorite wake up sound in the mornings.
These doves are really gorgeous, beautiful photo's. Have a nice week.
You got some really lovely shots of the Mourning Dove. The detail you've shown is lovely. I'd never noticed before how their legs almost have the coloration of a giraffe.
I love these birds. They seem so clueless. There's a lot of MODO courtship going on around here.
Love the mourning doves. They clean up the mess under my feeders. Nice shots!
I had five of these lovelies in my front yard this morning. Your pics are so much better than the ones I got through the blinds. They are chubbiest things!
This little 'model' gave you a lot of nice poses!~Lindy
Not among the brightest birds on the face of the planet but they are among the very lovely feathered friends. Fine shots, T.
Lovely to look at. :)
I love their big eyes compared to their head, and the shape of their beak. They've found a nice haven at your place T :D)
so sweet...I love Doves...
i have a mourning dove visiting my feeders everyday. she's usually with two smaller mourning doves (i think they're her babies)... your photos are great...the bluebonnets and paintbrushes in the post below are gorgeous. i think the paintbrushes are my favorite too... hope all is well. have a great night~
He's beautiful, love the close up of his wing feathers.
Beautiful shades of blue in the feathers.
I have a few of them around. They are quite the eaters.
They are such sweet looking birds. You got some awesome close ups of this fellow. The ones here are very shy but that could be from the cats in my yard.
She is so beautiful! I love the blue and gray. I've never seen a mourning dove--isn't that a shame?--but I love hearing them in the distance.
Lovely shots of this pretty little dove. I am enjoying hearing them in the mornings again.
I never tire of watching the mourning doves. Love listening to them, too.
Very sweet little bird.
They are so sweet. Do you ever get white doves?
HI Tex This is a very pretty dove and great shots of it.
They look so delicate and soft! :)
Beautiful photos! I love the soft grey colour.
I was just looking at both the sides. Its so symmetrical.
Do love the beautiful feathers.
We get quite a few of these visitors daily. They are pretty and have great details.
Lovely capture on the cute and chubby Dove :)
They are so pretty. It's just in the last year or so I've had them start hanging out at my place.
They're so gentle and soft looking. Lovely pictures.
T, great shots! We have a couple of his cousins hanging out in our yard. They are Collared Doves. They are really stittish and I've only managed a couple of shots of them. They are all so pretty!
No matter what angle you see them from these are just beautiful creatures!Very nice series of images!
I truly miss hearing their calls in the dim light of the dawn.
When I grow up, I want a super camera/lens just like yours and I want to learn to take great shots like you do. :)I love seeing the detail in the mourning doves. There was a couple of them trying to build a nest on my neighbor's window ledge for a week or more, but failed and moved on. I took pictures of them fondling and playing. I'll miss them.
Just a gorgeous light blue but I had no idea they had pink legs! Wow
What pretty doves. We have doves who come everyday to eat the seed I leave out for the birds but they are not this color. I need to check to see what kind of doves we have here as I thought they were Mourning Doves but I'm sure now they are not the same as these.
What a beautiful young thing. I love how the last two photos especially capture him at his strutting best.
He's just wonderful!
A beautiful tick TexWisGirl and they seem a bit on our Collared Doves. However, you are more beautiful birds of color and drawing :-)
The morning doves always seem so sweet to me.
