Colorful Pond

Although the focus is not tack-sharp, I liked the vibrant colors enough to share these. I even liked the weeds in the foreground (which complicated focus efforts as the ducks swam). Wood ducks on the pond.

The weeds in the foreground makes these photos feel as though we're hidden away in a blind with you; stalking the wild photograph.
The beautiful colours give these pictures a very 'painterly' quality.

Nice that Wood Ducks are not as plentiful as Mallards, or Whistlers in your case or we may become complacent with their beauty.

You managed to get the focus on the ducks despite the weed trying to throw off the focus. I sometimes turn my automatic focus off so I can get the focus where I want it.

The green water really sets them off! I meant to tell you how I've coveted getting a photo of a Wood Duck - or maybe I've mentioned it before. Well the other day, I spotted one in a pond off the road we were on, and managed a few shots. I'll have to post a couple someday. He was in there with a male Mallard, and a male Hooded Merganser.

Nice photos! I like the water color! It's similar to the color in some of my Wood Duck photos.

Sallie (FullTime-Life) said...

That's what the reeds on "our" Lake do too ...The wind blows a lot out here. but the blurry shots I get are just egrets and geese and grebes. Nowhere near as colorful as your wood ducks.

SquirrelQueen said...

I love those reflections!

Karen said...

I like the focus. It adds a dreamlike quality to the shots.

Stewart M said...

Great green water - I have to admit that in some pictures I think the addition of some "weeds" in the foreground adds to the picture - makes them look less of a guide-book sort of shot, and more the sort of thing we normally see.

Cheers - Stewart M - Melbourne
