The Best 'Rubbish' on the Way to Town

You've seen stuff from this place before, but for Rubbish Tuesday, it was worth another stop, recently.

The rust on the truck and barn makes them look more like art than rubbish.

georgettesullins said...

Awww...the truck looks like Tow-mater from Cars.

Sunnybrook Farm said...

That is a really nice truck, probably lots of good stuff laying around there.

Optimistic Existentialist said...

I agree with Janey!! One person's rubbish is another person's art :)

messymimi said...

A nice view, and bittersweet in a way. It makes me think of all the work that truck and those buildings have seen in better days.

marilyn said...

This location could be (is) a treasure trove for rubbish Tuesdays. Love that rust!!

Fireblossom said...

And they keep it because....?

That is one cool truck. Lots of goodies in these shots. Had a bit of trouble with my link, but it is finally up and working...I think. lol

Very interesting!

I love nosey-ing around old abandoned even rusty things. So many stories that they could tell and can't.

William Kendall said...

There is an air of melancholy about it.

DJan said...

VERY cool rubbish, Tex. I like it. :-)

Cranberry Morning said...

Oh yeah, I like that!

Lynne said...

Great "best rubbish on the way to town" photo . . .
Would make a wonderful colored pencil drawing if you knew someone who was into drawing old rusty red trucks! Anyone in mind . . .

McGuffy Ann Morris said...

I love this. I look for this kind of thing when I am on the road and just out and about!

Judy said...

I love seeing old trucks like this. Nice find, love that top shot.

Alica said...

Bet that old truck was a beauty in it's time! Somebody should plant flowers in the bed! :)

sparkle100-havealook.blogspot.com said...

I seen this program where a lady collects rust things and she likes to hang them up outside and in. To be honest. I would leave them as is. I mean if she colored them a tad but these were plain rust, rust bucket looks. Horrid.

Oh I see one partly fence good for Thursday good fences. Did you get it first picture all of it?

I bet it is nice.

Beth said...

I love that old truck!

Morning, great rubbish, love the old truck, Francine.

Sandra said...

you ticked off all my boxes with these, grass, trees, fence post, old buildings, old trucks and lots of rust... but these are not rubbish to me they are beautiful.

Pamela Gordon said...

A common sight in most rural areas....some are just hidden way off and out of sight. Treasures waiting to be rescued. LOL I love the old truck.

Roxy the traveling dog said...

That's great stuff. I would stop there too.

Sharon Wagner said...

On our farm all the rubbish was set along a line of old white pines. The good old days.

Karen S. said...

This is such an amazing place, and what fun to romp about gazing at all the stuff here. Funny how other people's rubbish can appear so much more inviting than say the stuff my hubby has in places! Hehehe!

Mariette VandenMunckhof-Vedder said...

Dearest Theresa,
It is a shame that so much is rusting away in rural areas... For WWII ALL scraps of metal got collected and recycled which was a good thing on its own!
Hugs,
Mariette

I have always liked photographing old rusted out vehicles. I'm sure they'd have a story to tell!

Is that a Texas' answer to the "Pink Flamingo?"

It looks like the truck has grown into the rest of the landscape. :-)

I love that old place in an irrational way, because I usually hate clutter and waste. But that rusty old truck....almost like an art installation. Perfect for Roan's meme.

Great photos of the yard and all those things in it. I always wonder if the people who collected them really did intend to fix them up sometime?

Linda said...

The second photo is my favorite. Very colorful.

Paula said...

Like the truck. When my husband died he had an old Ford pick-up sitting in the back yard that hadn't been driven in years. I thought it would be a problem to get out of there so I sold it for $500. The man tinkered with it for about fifteen minutes and it started right up. Bet I could have got several thousand for it.

Marie said...

So nice!

KB Bear said...

I love that truck! Very photogenic...

We have an abandoned Model-T car frame nearby. I gaze at it every time I go by, imagining how it ended up sitting in a swamp.
