A Random Dash of Texas

An ornament mounted to the hood of a pickup truck

Driver of said pickup truck (a nice gent I met at the post office)
And a random wall ornament from a restaurant in Texas (where else?)

Trucking through Texas, I have seen the cow ornaments, and longhorn steers, too. Yep, I think only in Texas. Naturally.

The hood ornament is cool...looks like it is leaving a rust stain. I assume someone loves what they do...

I am taking a break from blogging for a while cause Tootie will be coming. Thought she was coming yesterday, but it is a bank holiday so they are coming today. She is on two weeks break, not sure if it will all be spent here, but this week will probably be pretty well spent here. So just going to visit when I can, but not going to attempt to post...or at least that is the plan now...

Cool ornament! I've never seen one like that, but then, I've never been to Texas. :-) We do have cattle farmers, though. Maybe the trend will show up here eventually.

I've seen some trucks around here with whole Longhorn horns on the front of their truck, a little much. The rust on this truck would drive me crazy but it wouldn't bother John any.

Fine pictures of two great symbols of true Texans. The fellow looks the part with that hat and smile, and the ornament is unmistakable. I spent four years in Texas when in the service and enjoyed every minute of it!

Hi Theresa, That gent with the cattle sculpture on his hood is nifty! Great sense of pride in what he enjoys. Good for him. The horseshoe and Texas Star are also wonderful decorations. Lone Star state pride is evident! As a former Texas resident (and one of my ancestral relatives was in the Texas Revolution) I know. Have a great coming week!

We live near a military base here in Maryland and you can almost always tell a Texan by his or her vehicle. They all will have a "Cowboys" or a "Lone Star" bumper sticker. One young soldier had a set of Longhorn bull horns hood ornament on his Jeep Cherokee. Yikes.

Just thinking... If Texans put bull ornaments on their hoods why don't West Coasters put Fish emblems on their hoods?
