I see purple in those feathers - beautiful. Have a great day!

My goodness, but he'd fill up that bird bath, should he decide to take a dip!

love the last shot, it shows all the details of his feathers. in our news last month, they had a half price sale at the county pound on Black dogs. they said no one takes the black dogs, or cats.. now i am thinking maybe the reason people don't like crows is because they are black.

I love crows.

I was just at the park this past Sunday trying to snap one. Never could get close enough to one in the sun to get the capture. Shame the picture just isn't the same in the shade.

Great pictures - I love the blue/black of crows.

i always wonder what the difference is when you talk black birds, crows, or ravens? they are gorgeous in my book. personally they may even rank higher on the scale for me than other colorful more famous to others kind of birds. they have such character & i just love that!! ( :

love the close-ups of his eyes & face.

You can just see the intelligence in those eyes! :-)

Beautiful shots of the Crow, Tex!

If you've had as much rain lately as we have, your birds are probably having their fill of water!

Nice close ups.

Crows get a bad rap. I love their calling cries. No bother at all.

Donna said...

These are great shots! Love how the feathers glisten!

Julia said...

Those are really great shots. I actually love crow providing they don't make a nuisance of themselves. They are so very intelligent and can recognize a person by their feature or habit. They love my mom who always put left over food for them on a big rock and they would call the others to come to dinner.

Hugs,
JB

My landlady from years ago used to say every old crow thinks hers is the blackest.

No doubt, he takes a bath often to keep his color so shiny and bright. When it comes to awesome captures, you are the best.

Beautiful!

And smart, too. (Crows and ravens. Blackbirds are smaller.)

joeh said...

Tough as nails, they work together and are Democratic, maybe the crow should be our national bird.

No other bird messes with them, including hawks and eagles!

Very great shots!

Great shots, and such a smart bird.

If Beth looks at the page again, ravens are a larger bird than a crow.

Denise at Autumn Sky said...

You know I love crows. Good captures. It's not easy to get the detail since they're all black, but you did it. Our crows are back and I love listening to them.

Hi TWG - he is beautiful .. but he's one of my thugs here ... along with magpies and seagulls - all eating baby birds .. and anything that's going - they all fight ..

Lovely photos though .. cheers Hilary

Beautiful pictures of the common crow, which are very common around here. :) Have a great day!

A fine series showing the multi colors his feather try to produce. Our crows are the most suspicious bird we have around. They descend to the ground limb by limb checking at every step for anything that might spook them.

He is a handsome fellow.

I saw this and started trying to find good pictures of the crows in Terre Haute and could not find any that showed what I wish I could show you. But just for fun some time google the term 'Terre Haute crows'--there is even an article in the New York Times. One article I glanced at said in winter there was about a 1:1 ratio of crows to humans.
