I see purple in those feathers - beautiful. Have a great day!
My goodness, but he'd fill up that bird bath, should he decide to take a dip!
love the last shot, it shows all the details of his feathers. in our news last month, they had a half price sale at the county pound on Black dogs. they said no one takes the black dogs, or cats.. now i am thinking maybe the reason people don't like crows is because they are black.
I love crows.I was just at the park this past Sunday trying to snap one. Never could get close enough to one in the sun to get the capture. Shame the picture just isn't the same in the shade.
Great pictures - I love the blue/black of crows.Cheers - Stewart M - Melbourne
i always wonder what the difference is when you talk black birds, crows, or ravens? they are gorgeous in my book. personally they may even rank higher on the scale for me than other colorful more famous to others kind of birds. they have such character & i just love that!! ( :love the close-ups of his eyes & face.
You can just see the intelligence in those eyes! :-)
lovely set of photos, specially the first one
Beautiful shots of the Crow, Tex!
If you've had as much rain lately as we have, your birds are probably having their fill of water!
Nice close ups.
Crows get a bad rap. I love their calling cries. No bother at all.
These are great shots! Love how the feathers glisten!
Those are really great shots. I actually love crow providing they don't make a nuisance of themselves. They are so very intelligent and can recognize a person by their feature or habit. They love my mom who always put left over food for them on a big rock and they would call the others to come to dinner.Hugs,JB
My landlady from years ago used to say every old crow thinks hers is the blackest.
He is handsome and looks healthy! And the last shot does look Fall-ish!
Indeed, T. This looks like Autumn. I love the crows and their antics. They are integral to nature.
A charmer indeed.
No doubt, he takes a bath often to keep his color so shiny and bright. When it comes to awesome captures, you are the best.
Beautiful! And smart, too. (Crows and ravens. Blackbirds are smaller.)~
Tough as nails, they work together and are Democratic, maybe the crow should be our national bird.No other bird messes with them, including hawks and eagles!
Very great shots!NIce day Crissi
Great shots, and such a smart bird.If Beth looks at the page again, ravens are a larger bird than a crow.
You know I love crows. Good captures. It's not easy to get the detail since they're all black, but you did it. Our crows are back and I love listening to them.
Hi TWG - he is beautiful .. but he's one of my thugs here ... along with magpies and seagulls - all eating baby birds .. and anything that's going - they all fight .. Lovely photos though .. cheers Hilary
Excellent photographs of the very photogenic crow! You have captured the detail and glossiness of the feathers beautifully. Stellar close-ups. It's always a pleasure to visit your outstanding blog, Theresa!
Sharp photos and a nice subject, Theresa. It must be nice not to have dog/cat hair on a black coat :)Have a Beautiful Day!Peace :)
Great shots! I like the blue jue in the feathers!
Beautiful pictures of the common crow, which are very common around here. :) Have a great day!
A fine series showing the multi colors his feather try to produce. Our crows are the most suspicious bird we have around. They descend to the ground limb by limb checking at every step for anything that might spook them.
I like the way he poses for you on the top shot.
He's beautiful! Looks like he's smiling in nearly every photo :)
People either like them or hate them or even maybe don't care either way. I like them. Always have.
Well done!Nice bird!
I hear they are the smartest birds...
That last shot needs a tombstone :-)
A dashing fellow indeed ...
Beautiful but I always think of Poe.They are enjoying our pecans.
A handsome fellow indeed and wonderful captures as always! Fun to see them "up close and personal"!!
A real beauty. Great close up shots.
Did you save the best one for last? Super, but every one shows those beautiful feathers with a special sheen. Maybe he is making the most of every day till winter comes. Cheers,Jean
Nice shots and love the purple hues in his feathers. Have a terrific Tuesday.Best wishes Molly
We sure get a lot of crows around here. Gigantic ones! It seems they seldom drink from my bird bath at all any more though.
Amazing photos, Tex!What a gorgeous bird!
Now that really is something to crow about. :-)
and halloween!! you could frame it and display it for your trick or treaters ;)in the right light, you can see that hint of purple!! very nice details in these up close images!!!
What a handsome fellow. Great shots, T :)
Great shots of this Crow. Looks a bit like our Carrion Crow.
Looks like the crows we have around here. Smart birds aren't they? :-)

Beautiful shots ...
He has his eye on you it seems. Fabulous shots of the crow. I changed my blog post for today.
The black crow is a very handsome bird.
What a handsome, handsome, healthy Crow and your pictures are awesome, Theresa. You either have a wonderful zoom lens or your crows are a lot less shy than mine. If I even look like I am moving in their direction, they are gone. Great pics, Theresa ...Andrea @ From the Sol

Lovely black crow! I like them very much :)
Autumn - YES!! That's it - when they are here in super huge, happy groups . . Your photos are so clear . . each picture look like a true work of art . . and that close up - whooo - such detail.
Well he has a lot of gravitas!
Its hard to show any black bird at its best, but you have done well with this one.peter
Great shots, I especially love the 6th picture, he looks quite intense! :)
Beautiful as always :) Thanks for sharing.
i love crows! you got some great shots...usually when i see them, try to get the camera, they fly away!
You might need a bigger birdbath for that one!
He seems very happy to have found your birdbath!
I love the sleekness of a crow. The way their feathers shine in the sun.
You've managed to capture their different movements. Brilliant shots.
He looks as intelligent as he is! Have you seen the cool observations of crows and other corvids using tools? I am amazed by them.
You really got some awesome shots- he looks so sleek!
They are amazing birds, and so smart!
Not only is he a smart bird, but a real charmer as well!
Such a sleek creature!
Wow, he really has a beautiful color !
He's beautiful and mean! Lol
I was watching some while at a red light the other day, they were huge! Nice pics:@)
You did a fabulous job capturing the catch light in his eyes. It's not always easy to get the color variation in an all black animal...but you nailed it.
A very handsome fellow. You captured his splendor quite nicely. I really like crows and ravens.
This is really a very beautiful crow! Great photos!
Wow! So sleek!
Hi Theresa, Outstanding photography! I think it is kind of hard to take great pictures of crows due to the birds being black. I especially enjoyed that last picture. Have a really great Wed. tomorrow!
We've just sent you a bazillion American crows. You can keep them. they eat baby birds.
What wonderful shots of this handsome and clever bird!
Looks like he keeps his feathers immaculately groomed! Very handsome looking crow if I ever saw one...
They are so big and making a lot of noise about now in our back yard.
Either that's a huge crow or a small birdbath.
What a handsome fellow! So shiny!
he's giving you the stink eye. See you do have some autumn at your house.
He is beautiful. I think you got really good shots and I think a couple of those would make good subjects for rugs. :)
He looks rather pleasant. I know crows are intelligent but they always seemed stern to me.
Hi Theresa!! Crows and Black birds seem to be social creatures and when there is one - usually there are several others!! He is a lovely sleek crow!! Hope he's minding his Pees and Quus!!
Such powerful creatures! You really show itALOHA from HonoluluComfortSpiral =^..^= . <3
One more thing which you already know!! the crow is one of the smarter birds and very clever bird!!
You got some wonderful shots of this guy! He looks very well groomed for the photo shoot!
He is a handsome crow. It is hard to get pictures of crows without lots of sun. Your photos show all those beautiful feathers. Great shots!
You sure he's American, he might be one of those "Illegals"... :)Real nice group of pictures, I especially like that last picture!
So very handsome! :)
Beautiful series of photos of this American crow.Perfect photographed, my compliments.
Great pics, you have even made him look handsome. I have to say these would be down the bottom of my list of fav birds. Crows are protected in Australia, not that I have a clue why. Great pics.
He was posing for you.
He is a handsome fella.
Such a great-looking bird! he looks like he's posing for you. And yes, that last shot does say AUTUMN! :-)
That 6th close-up, head shot is awesome!
Each shot giving us a glimpse of the beauties some miss out on appreciating in crows, and yes, that last one IS Autumn :)
You can almost see them thinking what to do next.
They are such a sharp bird! (In both brains and beauty).
Great shots, T. I love crows.. so intelligent.. but they sure can be noisy in the morning.
They are such beautiful birds. And very smart. I always know fall when they return to the farm.Lindahttp://coloradofarmlife.wordpress.com/?s=The+Adventures+of+Fuzzy+and+Boomer&submit=Search http://coloradofarmlife.wordpress.com

Crows are misunderstood. I think this one seems to be posing for you. I love the sheen of their feathers. They make me laugh.
Such a gorgeous bird!! I love the tones of blue in his black feathers.Great photos
A shine and sleek like no other . . .
He is rather charming! His feathers look like velvet.
He's a handsome fella.
I must say, your bird bath sure gets a variety of visitors. My own birdbath...huge sigh!!! I never get any visitors and I keep it clean and fresh water during the Spring through early Autumn. Theresa, I have never seen a single bird on it...
He is a handsome fellow. I saw this and started trying to find good pictures of the crows in Terre Haute and could not find any that showed what I wish I could show you. But just for fun some time google the term 'Terre Haute crows'--there is even an article in the New York Times. One article I glanced at said in winter there was about a 1:1 ratio of crows to humans.
These pictures are amazing, you captured him perfectly!
Definitely a handsome, healthy-looking bird! Very nice series!Lindy
Those are awesome! Love the crows! Very cool shots!
You got great shots of a beautiful crow! I agree, looks like fall.
