I see corn among that delicious seed. All your critters are having a feast. Love the painted buntings.
Gotta be careful to pick out only the good ones. :-)
No colors i pick at the paint store could be so vibrant and beautiful!
I love how there's always enough for everyone:@)
Not fair, that we don't get them here in Florida. Not fair.

A very pretty one. :)
they're the color of my pajama bottoms. Huh! who'd a thunk?
I have never seen a bird like that! (Except maybe here!)
The male is so colorful, and the females so plain Jane. We used to see them around Whitney, when we lived further north.
Hi Tex, I always enjoy your photos that include Painted Buntings. When Nature was passing out colors the males must have been up near the front of the line! : - ) John

I'd sure love to have them here (like at least one other of your commenters) but second-best is good too. They sure brighten up a blog post, don't they? :)
I have never seen one of these colorful birds in my life except for pictures. Lucky you!
Such a cool looking bird!
They are very festive, I'd like a pair here. What foods do the REALLY like? Do they winter somewhere else? Santa is supposed to bring me a bird feeder and yard hook...
Beautiful buntings, painted so prettily!
Whoever named that species of bird got it right. Always a pleasure to see.

I love him, is like him fell out of painted box.
I just find the color variation in their plumage amazing, even allowing for the age discrepancies of those you have shown us Theresa.
Pretty birds, they remind me of Rainbow Lorikeets with their brilliant colours.

I just love the male Painted Bunting, it has to be the most colorful bird.. Awesome shots, enjoy your evening!
They are such sweet little birds... and those colours! wow! :D)
The most delightfully coloured birds around. They don't normally range this far north but one was spotted in our province last month - very late for stragglers and unusual too.
Crazy colours on that paint bunting, so like our rainbow lorikeets.
Can't get enough of those Painted Buntings.
They are just the most gorgeous little creatures!!
it's just crazy how beautiful they are. you are so lucky they visit you!!!
The male is a very showy bird.

Those two were obviously jealous of his get-up.
I think that "painted" bunting is the perfect name for that bird. He's so bright and colorful that he doesn't look real to me!
Nice group of pictures, sure are colorful birds!
they have such gorgeous colors! I just saw your bear on the side and those eyes are so real looking!
Boy, those males sure win the coloring contest!
Hi Theresa, The Painted Buntings are really spectacular-looking birds. Those flashy males are truly beautiful! Glad you get to have such colorful visitors at your ranch. Have a great day today!
These are great shots, T. I love these sweet birds. Perfect post title, too.
What wonderful birds. One day perhaps!Cheers - Stewart M - Melbourne

le dernier oiseau que j'ai vu récemment,c'est une bergeronnette grise
I feel such envy when you post a picture of this bird that I have been watching for forever. You may just find me sitting by your feeder :) Janey
They really are such pretty birds!
It looks like someone dipped their head in a tub of colored painted, then a wing, back and thigh and topped it off with a tummy roll . . .
Oh they are the prettiest birds I've ever seen!! So colorful!! They must not come north...darn! smile~
Waste not, want not, say the buntings.~
Love the Painted Buntings, great shots! Wish we had this bird in our area :) Merry Christmas!
No fair! I wander around in the wilderness for days trying to glimpse one of these beauties and you just walk out the back door and invite thousands of them over to dinner!Wonderful series!
Very colorful.. they go with the Holidays!
Very nice, Theresa! I may be resorting to some archived photos myself soon. :-) I always enjoy the painted buntings so much! You are right about the verdin...they are very noisy, flittering little birds. They get upset that they can't get a good purchase to drink out of the hummingbird feeders and sit and fuss at me. :-) I love that I have a family of them in my yard, and hope they will nest again in the palo verde in the spring, but now in the front yard, since the back yard tree is gone.
If only we had such delightful creatures out here.
it's so colourful!! oh my - gorgeous bird.
Beautiful captures! =0)
They all look healthy and happy, must cost you a fortune.
Dearest Theresa; Haha, you made me puzzled with the title. The color of male Painted Buntingsis SO amazing, isn't it♡♡♡Sending Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan to my Dear friend in America, xoxo Miyako*
Great shots and the birds look so pretty in their vivid color. Have a nice evening. Raining and very cold here in north Texas!Hugs
Beautiful little guys!
SHowy birds- so beautiful!
There is no way for the male painteds to hide or blend in. I've only seen him once in person and I was mesmerized.
I'm still hoping to see one of these beauties sooner or later. Looks like they're enjoying the feast!
I wonder if I spill some paint in the garden, and a bird walks through while eating seed, if I could call it a Painted beauty...that is probably the only way I shall ever see the beauty you get to see right in your own yard~
Excellent captures and focus on the colorful bird!
what a beautiful bird the male is! Amazing colours
I love seeing the entire family together. :)
A feathered paint palette! :)
They are such pretty birds. I love to see them outside my window. So glad that I can comment again! I know I'm out of the loop, but why has everyone put the word verification back?
Wow! Such vivid colors. I think I have seen these birds only on your site!
The Painted Bunting photos are so awesome, such a beautiful bird! Too bad they are not as successful as the infamous house sparrow in getting around.
This is so great to see. The beautiful colors of this bird I find really beautiful. I wish we also had these birds in the Netherlands.
I think that one pretends to be a parrot :)
I just love that bird! To me he will always be the Rainbow Bird! lol
Hi hon! We're up in Auburndale today and I had to search your blog to show my mom you beautiful buntings. You're lucky to have such a handsome visitor. Happy new year to you and all your creatures! *hugs*
