Male and female "Skinny Chicks?"
The spot of red on its head is quite dashing!
No doubt they're keeping an eye out for coyotes!
Looks like they decided your deck was a good place to relax!
Awww...they don't look like they're ready to cut and run at all. I think they like your deck and are staying around a little while to pose and perch.
I wonder if they are a couple. They sure do look comfortable, especially for such nervous birds! Must be the Ranch vibes. :-)
Hi TWG .. love the photos and particularly their eye detail .. cheers Hilary
LOL as they do look goofy. Have a terrific Tuesday.Best wishes Molly
What cute birds! So nice of you to build a deck for them. :-) I hadn't noticed before that their beaks turn downward. Interesting.
This is a lovely bird with a long tail. :)
Hi Theresa, What a pretty/handsome bird! I especially like the subtle orange and blue on their heads. Great pictures! Have a tremendous day today!
Road runners always seemed like fun birds to me. They look comfortably at your place!

Oh, these are wonderful! I've never seen a Roadrunner 'resting' before!Even though you don't care for the Captcha thingy, the one underneath the comment box is showing the State of Texas flag with a number on it today. :-DLindy
How cute- just sit down and take a load off! They are actually very pretty- love their long tail feather.
wow! You not only had 1 but 2 visit you. How marvellous
A fine series on this roadrunner. I wonder if he's looking at you directly when you are on his side, or when his beak is aimed at you?
These photos are so cool! I love how they just felt comfortable enough to just hang out and visit with you.
I wonder if a parent is introducing a "newbie" to the delights of TexWisVille. "Hang around here, Kid. The food is good and the human always photographs are best side!" :)

Hi Tex, I did not think those guys would ever stay still that long. :-) Neat pictures! John
And he says " What's happening here today?", superb series, and what a bonus to have them both together. They have amazing colouring in their feathers. Jean.
He's just singing a song, feeling his place and so darn happy to be alive!
Ah, love those "skinny chickens"!! How fun that they hung around as long as they did!! Maybe looking for a little "publicity"??
They think that deck was built just for them.
They look like such characters! No wonder Loony Tunes decided to make a cartoon out of one of these funny birds.
Like lounging next to a pool. :-)
Beep Beep Vroom!

They certainly sit there and put on a good show for you.

Great bird shots! They must be fun to watch, just hanging out like that. Aloha!
Your photos are great but I wish I could really see one!
Two at once, how cool is that!
I just love these photos! Looks like they are hunkering down - maybe from a hawk? I have had mourning doves 'hide' on my deck when hunted. They look very intelligent.
Wonderful! I'd love to see these guys one day.
They just settled right in, they look quite comfortable.
Oh wow, lucky you not only to have one roadrunner you have two! They are cool birds! Great shots!
We don't have any of those fellas around here. I was mostly impressed by the size of there feet. I'm guessing that's what gets them to where they are going so quickly.Great pics T

We have them around here, but they just zip across the road too fast to photograph! Great shots of yours!
Two skinny chickens on the porch...are those song lyrics somewhere??? They should be. ;)
Beautiful shots; one looks male while the other female.
So lucky to view these goofy-looking birds!
I love roadrunners! I haven't seen many, but there were some in the Mojave desert where I stayed some winters. They make a cool sound too. great shots of the obliging birds! - The Equestrian Vagabond
Very nice! Such cool looking birds! They do look quite comfy! :-)
They absolutely trust you... xoxo
so that's what a roadrunner looks like! I always wondered.
Next thing you know you'll have as many roadrunners as whistlers--LOL! ;)
Great series. Teresa !!
Funny birds. I like the exposure, framing, and DOF of the penultimate photo.
Two! Bonus!! Looks like they made themselves right at home.
wow, lovely birds!i have never seen one in person.thanks for sharing your beautiful photos.
Terrific shots, Theresa! I used to have them come through my yard when I lived on a canyon in San Diego, but they never hung around, so it't great to see the details of their feathers and eye streaks. I didn't realize they have iridescent green on their wing and tail feathers. I wonder what they would eat if you fed them on your deck. I have lots of visitors now for sunflower seeds but I don't know if roadrunners eat seeds.
These pictures are awesome! I love that they feel comfortable to sit for a spell. I can only picture the running all the time......
find such a nice birds! And you have even two in your garden. what a lucky man you are too:-)))))) n Really nice to see these birds.
Great birds - do you feed them, or are they just optimists? Cheers - Stewart M - Melbourne
Everybody comes to your patio to relax. Very nice photos! I don't seem them often anymore, but even when I do, they are usually moving too fast for me to get a photo. Beep Beep!
Geesh I missed so much being in the bed for rest all week! Love the Roadrunner images, it must trust you to get so close~
