Sharing Texas Autumn

Note: If you get Word Verification, it is a Blogger/Google glitch acting up again! Ugh!
FYI, YOU CAN JUST IGNORE THEIR WORD VERIFICATION PROMPT AND HIT ENTER! THE COMMENT SHOULD PUBLISH WITHOUT IT!

Before we get deeper into wintry grays and blues, I wanted to share a bit of Texas autumn color from late November.
One of our large Post Oaks turning yellow and brown.

A bright red tree on the way to town - we don't get too many of these in Texas.

One of my favorite trees on the way to town. Just a golden brown swish of beauty!

Three of our huge Post Oaks in one photo (and a baby one, too)

Early one morning, the sun was illuminating just the tops of the oaks in the woods behind the back pasture.
The view down our county road.

Pretty little country lane it is.

The view from the front porch on 11/27.

The same view 3 days later after harsh winds stripped the trees bare.

The last of autumn leaving. :)

Beautiful captures. The massive oak is awesome! We get a lot of the bright red in MA on sugar maples. Nature is amazing.

As blog glitches, I'm having problems accessing my old posts.

And yes, you have word verification. Not that it's a huge problem to do.

Seems fall was short this year. The foliage was pretty one day and blown away the next. You are surrounded by nature at her best.

That is a nice little country lane. Big difference in the trees. I guess the leaves blew over into the neighbor's yard. Say, do you know what is up with Blogger? Every comment on each blog I've visited including yours, has verification "prove you're not a robot" number to type in.

joeh said...

We may beat you in fall colors up north, buy I would gladly trade that for a few painted buntings.

Lisa @ Two Bears Farm said...

We get a good number of those red trees here in the fall, but now we are all browns and bare limbs.

Beautiful trees in fall colors.
Photo 4 and 5 are my favorite.

Spectacular scenes, TexWis! With or without leaves, those trees are so expressive. Breathtaking actually. Specially love the light along the top of the oaks and the view down your country road.

Mary Hone said...

Beautiful, I love that red tree.

Kate said...

The oak trees are truly magnificent!

don said...

It was interesting to see that the strong wind not only damaged the trees, but it also blew all the fallen leaves away. We have some brown trees who miss having any color, but most of yellow and orange.

Stephen Hayes said...

Love that Post Oak, although I've never heard that term before.

John Wooldridge said...

Nice pictures, would it be that many of your older trees are solitary beings?

Wonderful captures of the trees -- those with colorful leaves and the naked ones as well!!

Your doing this number deal. Well better then the letters I must say.
If they were the letters. Forget it.

Lovely autumn photos! Can't you just take away the goole word confirmation? I have no one on my blog as far as I know... ;)

I do not like autumn colored leaves are initially and then bare branches and the view is sad. Regards.

thepoodleanddogblog said...

I'm a spring/ssummer person and although the trees are gorgeous colors, I find them very depressing too.

your autumn is really beautiful, I loved the light in image #4 and that road looks like the perfect path to bring you to and from the ranch!!

Not much in the way if vibrant colors in Texas! I did just recently see a red one like yours, but of course didn't have my camera with me! But the gold colors are around!
Thanks for the heads-up on the word verification!

Dearest Theresa,
Lovely posting and your Post Oaks are spectacular species!
Funny, in two days my post will also be about Fall Colors and sadly, our yellow leaves were off in about 3 days. With mean wind, and after that frost, they let go... Sad in fact as a week earlier they had not quite reached their true color. But that's life, looking forward to the next Fall!
Hugs,
Mariette

Very beautiful tree photos! It is crazy how fast a weather event can make the leaves disappear in a hurry....I wish the pretty fall colored leaves stayed around for a lot longer every year!

Yes, the leaves leave. Sadly for us!

I read that Google uses those photographed numbers to sort out their street views. We are doing their work for them!

Trees, trees, what would we do without trees! i couldn't imagine my life without trees in it!

pattisjarrett said...

It doesn't take the wind long to denude a tree. I only have to type a 3 or 4 digit number on your blog, and they are easy to read (captcha). There are some blogs I'll type a comment, but it won't post. The page reloads, I catch a glimpse of the captcha box, then it disappears. If I hit enter, it repeats the reload and I give up after a few tries. I'll be glad when they get it sorted out.
