That's a beautiful image of the downy woodpecker in flight.
Yesterday at my garden was a woodpeckr, too
Patiently waiting his turn on the gravy train. :-)
quick take off! Love the feathers on the second shot..Happy Sunday!
Liked the "Downy Go Bye Bye" . . . although he could have stayed around to enjoy the "close up!"Thank you for giving us bubba, slider, critter, bird pics . . .horse and doggie ones too . . . I ALWAYS look forward to the daily run-a-round ranch!
The chickadee is waiting for its turn.Be patient

There it goes. Great catch!!!
I dreamt of birds last night -- even an albino-like golden eagle in my backyard. Just thought I should share that little fascinating tidbit. 😸

Hi Theresa, A favorite of mine. Great pictures. Love that flight shot. Have a great coming week!
You are great with capturing that guy in flight. Those chickadees want to fool us eh?
The second shot is great.
Wow! That's an excellent shot of Downy!
Wow ! That'a amazing shots !
A fine shot of this colorful bird. The largest bird I have seen this winter is a Flicker who tried to land on my bird feeder but failed. :-)
Lots of these woodpeckers and chickadees frequent my feeders too.
Love to watch these birds! Nice capture, Tex. :-)
What a beautiful and colorful bird Tex! Love the flight shot!Great captures!Dimi...
Hi Tex,Beautifully woodpecker in flight, the second is my favorite.
Wow....that is an exceptional 'take off' capture. It's a beauty. Thanks so much for sharing the link with us at I'd Rather B Birdin'
First time visiting your blog; it looks great! I like your Good Fences -series!
What a neat collage of shots. Love your "take-off" shot.
An amazing action shot!
He's gorgeous! And the little chickadee looking on is adorable!
Like a little rocket! I put suet out for ours and I've never seen them on a seed feeder.
Downy probably went to get his friends. It's messy weather down here, but at east it's moisture.
Great pictures!I wish I could do that too :)But today I managed to catch some of my favourite gulls :))【ツ】Knipsa
Oh I like that second shot!
I guess it was the chickadee's turn.
Great shots! Love your commentary too. Happy New Year Tex.
The black, white and red really remind me of our Greater Spotted Woodpecker
Love that "take-off" shot!!!
Tex, I like birds that arrive to you. They are very beautiful.Have a great week.
So pretty, and wow what a takeoff. :)
Chickadee not impressed none.
Love those Downy woodpeckers. They don't hang around long.
Ha, and you complemented me on my site, but, yours is just the same. Brilliant Theresa.
Oops! Timber. Have a gentle landing there! Great capture, made me laugh, and I'm still smiling.
Lovely with a red spot on his head. :)
It looks like he just pushes himself off. I'm still waiting for mine - have had a few 'fly-bys' this morning, so I am hopeful.
What great photos ! I don't know this bird and loved seeing it at the feeder and flying off. Good shots. Have a great last week of 2014. Jo
It's always interesting to see what else is in the photo. Downy woodpeckers must be wide spread as we have them here and they stay for the winter.
Great shots! All my birds are soaking wet right now.
You are lucky to have these kinds of visitors. :)
It is always such a pleasure to be able to stop by your place, as often as I have a chance. Your Woody is darling and well who does not adore those tiny Chickadees. I want to wish you a very Happy New Year Theresa. Hugs~
So sweet. We've not seen more than a couple of Downys here.. but we've got a fair number of Hairy Woodpeckers.
Sweet Downy Woodpecker, love the pictures.Francine.

hehehe, we have lift off, with perfect timing!! Crisp and clear, pretty light!! I suppose the chickadee was waiting his turn, mine do that, they are very patient!!
What a beautiful bird. I used to draw and paint a lot, your drawings are beautiful.
Good catch of the escape! ;-)
I'm pretty sure I saw one of these yesterday, pecking on a dead branch in a neighbor's tree. He was making quite the racket.
You caught a great shot right there.
Nifty flight photo! Have a great evening.
Very nice !
Great action shot!
Great pics!I find the chickadees are feisty enough to hang with anybirdie. And small enough that anybirdie will put up with them.~
Very handsome bird, that woodpecker!
Those feathers look quite scary in that second photo. Take someone's eye out!
That's a beautiful bird!
That second shot is pretty cool!
It takes talent to catch that moment!

Your woodpecker looks very similar to the one who is here too :)

We get the same dudes at our feeders. They have a large range. I never noticed the little metal birds on your feeder before. That's cool!

Oh my, I haven't seen a woodpecker here for what seems like forever, and you caught that beautiful flash of red too. Lucky you :)
