The Domino Effect

Not sure if Friday's Fences link-up will be open as Janis is having some computer issues, but just in case, I'll post some Whistlers...on a fence.
All is well, except the one on the right seems restless.

Got to move in closer.

And just like dominoes, they go.

On down the line.

Until the last one settles.

All is well, except the one on the right seems restless...

Eastern Meadowlarks

Picking around to find seed under the bird feeder area.

A juvenile comes up (browner head stripes and stubbier tail)

I think the parent was trying to point out the seeds to Junior.

Junior finally gets it.

Lesson learned.

"No, Junior! You're big enough to find your own meals!"

"Now, get to it!"

"Harumph!"

Looks like the parent is muttering, "Ungrateful kids..."

Junior...

...sure is cute, though.

Bird Species #91 and #92

I believe this tiny thing is a Field Sparrow - not one I've recorded here until a couple of weeks ago.

And one record shot of a White-Throated Sparrow, too - another new spotting at Run*A*Round.

Gemilyn at the Barn

Gem waiting in the barn entrance to be fed one morning.
Flicking her ears back as she's keeping tabs on Zim pacing in his paddock at the rear of the barn (he's also anxious to be fed and let out to pasture for the day).
