Old Stuff in the Country

This old oil pumpjack aka "nodding donkey" has been parked for years and used as a sign advertising insurance and maybe some other things, too.

The old tank it sits next to got similar treatment.
This old farm implement (appears to be a plow) got parked under a lovely oak tree.
 A nice place to retire.

Pine Siskin

A few Pine Siskins hung around rather late into the spring, here - these were taken in April.

They were also not shy and allowed me to get quite close.

On the Fence

"On the Fence" means someone is undecided about something. Well, this Whistler demonstrates that feeling well...
One foot on the old tree stump; one on the fence; trying to decide whether the water in the pond below is better than either perch.

You can sense his frustration and hesitation.

He seems to turn to the pair along shore behind him for advice.
They're like, "La, la, lah..." No help, buddy.

Meanwhile, further down the fence line, this pair just wants to rest and relax.
 But they're momentarily disturbed.

Yup, Mr. Undecided has "decided' to join them.
But still can't decide if that's where he wants to be.
They didn't buy into his drama and quickly returned to resting.
 Pitiful, antsy Whistler. :)

Good Fences #14

A nice ranch entrance, a bit weathered but very charming.

Rolling Oaks
I had photographed this place before in January a few years back. They had a Christmas wreath displayed then. I like this barbed wire and horseshoe version for every day display.

A few details from the gate.

Nice to see the old rusted out wheelbarrow is still resting against the tree.
But the face on the tree is new since I had been here.
On to the link-up!
