Four and twenty? :-)
It's nice to see these guys.
I miss these birds all fall and winter and look forward to their trill song in the early spring here.
They are pretty, I like the splash of color on their wings.. Great shots, happy Tuesday!
Great red-winged blackbird, even if they hang out with starlings.
Handsome fellows and some nice actions shots!
Love those red patches. Great photos, Theresa!
I was surprised to see one of your boys with red millet in his beak. Even the squirrels won't eat that stuff here. It piles up on the ground when I get a bag of seed with a lot of it.
There is one hole on the golf course... a par three over a small pond with cattails all around... there are so many of these beauties there... I designated it the blackbird hole. Hmmmm... it's been a year since I've played; maybe the curiosity will get me back out there. ;) blessings ~ tanna
He's so handsome. Great photographs, Teresa!
Now they are stunning. That dash of red is extra special. Have a terrific Tuesday.Best wishes Molly
Yep, I would stand at attention and snap away at these pretty birds with the colorful epaulets. Beautiful pictures.
Quite striking, but those blackbirds have a mean streak for a few weeks in May....
Theresa, I am always amazed at the colors God created on the birds that repeat in the same spot from generation to generation. Great pictures.
So that's where Iowa's redwinged blackbirds have gone for the winter! :) Looks like you're taking good care of them! I love their song.
He is a real black beauty!
Superb capture! Like the feathers detail of these elegant beauties.
number four could be an escapee of Hitchcocks The Birds.. with those black wings spread and looking like he is attacking.
Always a treat to see them especially when they have food still in their little mouths! Great captures always.
Lovely series!Nice dayCrissi
I've always enjoyed seeing red-winged blackbirds, but are they ever feisty and territorial!
Oh, they are pretty. Time is passing and they will eventually be back here! Can't wait for their return.

I've never seen one of these with the color on their wings before! What a handsome pair they are!!
Yep, they are back here too crowding around the feeders. I really like them.MB
Always liked these guys. I often wonder, I do believe in evolution, but what evolutionary advantage is it to a bird to be colored so beautifully? Maybe God likes to throw a little seasoning into the recipe from time to time.
Love the red epaulets.
love the touch of color on their wings..
Yes, they are very handsome!
I get lots of those at my feeders as well and enjoy watching them. Their cousin , the Grackle , is another story though. They like to run off all of the smaller birds and then proceed to empty out every bit of food from the feeders (most of which ends up on the ground). Every once in awhile the group gets so large I actually run them off if possible!
Our blackbirds are all black, they have colorful feathers. Regards.
het lijkt wel of ze er een feestje van maken.
They sure are good looking fellas! And they know it. More of our Oregon or Colorado birds that have migrated south maybe ... I think I recognize them ;>)
They are so pretty with the red orange on the wings!
Beauty of the Blackbirds, those colours on his wings, wowee.
So that's where mine went, they came to your place!

A very pretty bird and you captured the red color in the wing perfectly.
got cardinals, titmice, chickadees, finches, jays, woodpeckers at my feeders during this big BLOW of snow. All good. No squirrels. Still good.

I love their nests too
One of these lovelies flew in front of my car this morning as we drove through the bottoms on the way to town. I never see them at home. I think they are quite pretty.
Showy little devils, aren't they? I remember when I lived in Ohio, they were considered pests. Here in Mass, people celebrate them as a sign of spring. Just goes to show you, you can't please everyone.
Afternoon Tex oh I love them they are my favourite ...well after whistlers:) Hug B
Great shots, T. :)
How much fun! I didn't realize redwings would use feeders.
We get these every so often, and always in a big flock. Nice series at the feeder!

They remind me of warmer weather. :)
Hi Theresa, I agree that the male Red Winged Blackbirds are handsome fellows! Glad you showed their bright wing bars so well in your photos. Have a pleasant Wednesday tomorrow!
Now those I recognize. I have several that greet me with a lot of squawking each morning and look pointedly at the empty bird feeder! ha
We had lots of these by the lake when I was a kid. You'd see that flash of color on the black wings as they landed on the cattails. :)
Beautiful markings on these fellows!
I have never seen a blackbird with wings like that. Such beautiful colours!
Such a beautiful bird!!
He does look smart with his coloured eppelettes

We only have a few around here during the Winter and I think yours are so pretty. I thought that I heard one driving through the country the other day and even worse for this time of year to be here were 2 Eastern Meadowlarks~
I miss these guys. Their call heralds spring around here.

Great looking birds - they feature in the first pages of Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance - which is about as obscure a fact as you can get!Cheers - Stewart M - Melbourne
