Carolina Wren

Sitting on the deck railing just off the corner of my window one day. Constantly moving.

 Oh, such attitude!!!

 Finally, belting out a song.
Listening for a response. Such an adorably tough, plucky little bird!

They come around the basement sliding doors in W.V. each morning, looking for moths etc. that got attracted to the lights the night before.

They have a lot of Wrenitude!

This bird is a remarkable "poser" with all those variations of peering this way and that. It must have been fun to have so physically near and hanging around long enough to get a good series.

Chris Rohrer said...

OMG!!!! I would love to get better looks on this bird. You are so lucky to have that bird around your patio. They sure do like to move around quite a bit:)

I had a Caorlina Wren spend a winter at my feeder a few years back. He was a long way from where he would have been normally, but I fed him meal worms and he stayed the whole winter. And you are so right ... they are adorable and fiesty little birds with a surprisingly big sounding song coming from their little bodies. Great shots, Theresa ...

They make lovely neighbors when you build them the right kind of house.

Rose said...

Oh! This is my favorite bird on earth! I love them more than I can say. They always built a next on one of our porches when I was a kid.

We could be sitting in the swing and one would be apt to land on the chain right above our head. My dad was crippled and sat out there a lot, and they got till they would land on his foot.

And their song! Did you ever hear such a song from such a little body? Who could be sad when hearing them?

Birdman said...

We get wrens up here, but don't think one of these has frequented my feeders.
