It Started Out Innocently Enough...

A male Gadwall paddling around the pond...

 He began splashing about, bathing.

When he began preening behind the grasses, I felt like a voyeur, peering through his shower curtain.

 Sorry, buddy!

I have never heard of this duck and looked it up. Well our lake doesn't have much vegetation and its range isn't really in my area. I learned that our diving ducks are home free and not in jeopardy of loosing their catch to a Gadwell.

A fine action series of this duck cleaning and preening up. The series have a good sense of motion.

Dearest Theresa,
Lovely photos! Need to shampoo my hair... so I know how happy your Gadwell must have felt.
Had a much needed rest of 12 hours. Yesterday I was too exhausted after driving my 120 miles back and forth to therapy...
