Sleet and Snow

Spring is late in Texas this year, too. The last two weeks brought snow, sleet, more snow, rain, fog, drizzle, heavy rain, more sleet and more snow! I might as well share snow photos (I know many of you have seen plenty in your own yards). I might have to save some for July and August when I'm complaining of hot sun and too-dry weather. :)

Monday morning, February 23 brought light snow turning to sleet.

The ornamental pear blossoms were frozen on the limbs.
The sleet continued to form a crisp layer over the snow.
Then on Wednesday, February 25, we were gifted with several inches of fluffy snow.
Baron on the deck.

That ornamental pear tree was now holding snow on those frozen blossoms.
You'll be seeing more snow photos this week (sorry!) :)

Your well kept barn looks so good against the snow! Love the snow on the trees, too.

Snow does make for beautiful photos! Is it rare for you to have snow? We also had that type snow: my husband said we had "cotton trees"!

LOL, I was not expecting snow scenes from your place. Did you dogs enjoy the snow? The trees do look pretty covered with snow.. I hope your trees were not damaged. I love the dogs and the barn shots.. Have a happy Monday!

It WAS beautiful wasn't it? Oh, I think we are going to need to grow some gills if it keeps raining like this. After 2011, I said I'd never complain about rain again... but, I'm getting CLOSE! ha! I'll look forward to seeing more snow shots. =) blessings ~ tanna

I was just in Oklahoma these past few days and hoped to make it down to North Texas to see my Grandmother. Unfortunately, the snow kept us away. It was pretty though!

Pretty photos Theresa. My own snow photos are going to be shown in a few days :). B.B. and Baron look like they are enjoying it.

Even though I have seen lots of snow this winter I STILL think it's beautiful. People keep asking me if I'm tired of it. NOPE! I like spring, don't get me wrong. But winter has its place in my life too. :))

Beautiful pictures! That's pretty rare for you to have snow, isn't it? I love the gnarled old tree draped in white against the dark branches. :-)

A cousin sent me a picture of snow in El Paso just the other day too. It's an oncoming iceage, I'm telling you. I couldn't pick a fav of these...but I lean toward any oak tree. Happy Monday.

i love where you live ... you have such pretty views. love that big monstrous tree. that is so mighty looking. enjoy the footprints too. are those your Texas school boots? i can't get those out of my mind since you shared them and i don't even live in Texas. wonder if they make them for Virginia? some one no longer has black fur ... now white. Wow!!!! Did not know you have the white stuff too in Texas. Pretty pictures with the red barn and black dog😀 blessings Francine.

Wow! That's something for you! I'm sure this doesn't happen very often for you. Don't worry about your pear tree. the rain will do more harm to the blossoms and pollination than the frost. I don't think you would get that much frost.

Lovely wintry pictures. I love the first shot of the barn. Your oaks are awesome Tex!

I know you are probably sick of snow and cold, but to me these sights are just gorgeous. I live in South Europe, and we don't see much for it. I usually have to travel into the mountains to see any, or up north.

I don't mind you showing more snow shots. These are all great. Love the barn shot and of course the 'snow dog'. Brilliant Now no 8 is my favourite, if I could only pick 1 shot. Bring on more shots.

The dogs don't seem to mind, but then that snow is mild compared to Labrador.

I think it's fun that you are having snow in Texas! I don't want any more, but you can have some! I hope the snow didn't shut down the blossoms.

The dog seems to take it all in stride. The snow looks beautiful, but then I love snow, and I'm silly that way.

Your house reminds me of one that belonged to a friend of my parents- same shape, up in northern Ontario.

You did a much better job on your snow sights than I did. Mine were through a dirty window. Yours are really great. Not a snow person, but it was very pretty. Pouring down rain today tho.

Today it's raining here and gloomy.
Hope all the moisture helps the spring flowers.

Dearest Theresa,
Haha, you are showing more proof of 'Global Warming'here! Incredible photos though. Hope your ornamental pear tree will survive!
Here in Central Georgia spring came about 3 weeks late. Instead of having the Japanese Magnolia bloom on Mom's birthday as usual, on February 12 it bloomed on March 7! We had a very strange winter but no snow in our area.
Today it was 70s and it will be even in the 80s till Thursday with thunderstorms... Hope it will change for the better and be permanent spring without all that rain.
Hugs,
Mariette
