It seems like in the rest of nature that females don't have to do anything to attract the boys. In humans, they work very hard at it though. Still, I don't expect that they need to and that it's more of a way to stay ahead of other females.
Muy buenas imágenes.... Un abrazo desde Murcia... Muy bonitas...
Great looking ducks - I got excited when I saw some for the first time.Cheers - Stewart M - Melbourne
i'm with her!!they sure are beautiful ducks!! those colors & markings...wOw!!

I think the female has the right idea. Just stay high and dry.

Everytime I 'read' woodducks I'm thinking decoys. What's up with that? It's not you... it's me.

I don't know if I would ever become used to having all these birds around...I would probably not get a thing done anywhere because I would be watching the birds.
I love the wood ducks, especially the beautiful male.. They are one of my favorites behind the Whistling Ducks of course.. Great shots, enjoy your day!
The males always seem so haughty. Beauty even causes ducks to be vain I suppose.
Gorgeous Ducks ! The lady likes being high and mighty :)
She definitely has her pick!

A whole lotta "sorting out" going on, I'm thinking. :-)
You must have a very nice welcoming sign near your pond that lets all water birds know that they are welcome, just beautiful!
Your Wood Duck photos are great Theresa.
They are just lovely ducks, she is a smart girl.
Sure sign of spring. The males birds displaying their colors! Nice shots.
I think these ducks are so fantastic looking! (I have yet to get a photo of one. The few times I've spotted them, they've eluded me before I could snap a shot.)

Beautiful... they hardly look real. You sure these aren't decoys?! :-)
The ratio of males to females is pretty rotten. No wonder the guys have to fight.
Hmmm...hope the best suitor wins. We want to see little ones. The males are a handsome duck.
She sure has her pick...they all are beautiful.
What goes on in nature is just fascinating. Love these gorgeous ducks.Have a good week ahead.Hugs, CM
She might not be in a hurry to start a family but chicks born early probably have the best chance of survival.
T, always nice to see Wood Ducks! Still amazes me to see Ducks in trees, but I guess you're used to that with all your whistely buddies!
Even on the nature channel, nothing but the boys fighting over the girls! Heeheehee!
The way the Sun rays are falling it seems like they want to give the duck a spot light. Nature's showmen ship and you captured it perfectly. Thanks.
In your photo, they guys look like friends. But we know they aren't. May the best drake win.JanisGDP
I love your wood ducks - the males are so intricately beautiful! I just had a heron of some sort fly over me... but I didn't have a long lens on my camera :(
They looks so stress free.
thanks, I needed that, TexALOHA from Honolulu,ComfortSpiral =^..^=
For once it's "the boys" that are making the drama and she looks so sweet and innocent, gotta love that!!
Like I said before... The Good Lord must have been feeling particularly artistic when he created Wood Ducks!
wood ducks are so unique looking. spring makes all the animals crazy!
And so it is for all species :)
Dearest Theresa,That competition about a female can be really nasty at times but that too is nature!Happy new week and hugs,Mariette
Oh, they are beautiful! Love your captions! Lol
She seems quite relaxed--even with handsome males fighting over her--LOL! ;)
When I see these male ducks and their markings, it's like they don't even look real! LOL! Almost like someone painted them to look that way.
It's a race! With cheer leaders cheering them on :)
Busy pond. And ducks.
Fascinating nature, wonderful sequence!
They are so pretty! I love their markings.
I love the first two shots. THe ducks look like they're gliding!
I like the girl up in the tree.
How lovely they are :) I love all your ducks!
I believe that is probably the safest spot on the pond if she is the only female! Male wood ducks are so pretty.
Dearest Theresa; What colorful faces male Wood Ducks have! Always competition waiting for them:-)Sending Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan to my Dear friend in America, xoxo Miyako*
