Ring-Necked Ducks

A handsome pair of Ring-Necked Ducks stopped in at the pond last month on a rainy day.

 They mixed with some Gadwalls.

Just barely showing off the rust-colored ring around his neck that gives them their name.

How good of you to host a soiree so the Ring-Necks could mix and mingle before moving on. You're such a nice hostess.

Great set of pictures - really like the dull light and the rain drops - adds a painterly feel to the pictures.

I've not spotted this species yet. One lady who was next to me when we were at the bay long ago, told me there was a ring-necked duck out there on the water...I couldn't tell one from the other because of the distance. NOW, thanks to you, I know what to look for next time.
