Species #97

I added another bird/duck species spotted here at Run*A*Round last week. Number 97 is a Loggerhead Shrike! I saw him along the driveway one day, but wasn't sure if my eyes were playing tricks on me and I was just seeing another Mockingbird. I returned the next day with my camera and got photos to confirm his identity.

Cute little bugger!

I hope he sticks around and eats his fill of grasshoppers this summer!

Congrats on adding another bird to your already impressive list. Great captures, too.

They DO resemble a mockingbird from a distance. And their song .... well, not a 'pretty' as the mockingbird, but still a joy to hear.

Congrats on the 'new' species.

Nothing new species-wise here in D.C. It rained last night, and robins are busy hopping around in the backyard looking for worms.

Definitely a cute bird, and very similar to the Northern Shrike that we get here. I had one who was after the little songbirds at my feeders. I only saw him get one, but since my feeders are on my deck that was a little more up close and personal than I wanted.
