Good Fences #61

This place had two entrances, both adorned with a Pegasus cut-out.

Aptly named!
Pretty nice!

The Flying Red Horse reminds me of my first impression of Dallas, where an illuminated two-sided version rotated atop the Magnolia Building, once the tallest in Texas. It could be seen for miles. Built in 1922, it nearly rusted through and had to be rehabilitated. We lived in Dallas for 21 years. Coincidentally, I had written a blog scheduled for today which mentioned Pegasus but pulled it in order to include more timely information about our final few days in Illinois before returning to Florida.

Miss seeing that winged horse. I guess he went away with the Exxon-Mobil merger. This one looks custom made.

Now I wonder are the people on that Ranch, Greek? The cut out Pegasus would mean something.

Lynne said...

Yes . . . nice look and find . . .

When I was a tiny girl and visiting my daddy in Dallas, he would take me downtown in the evening so I could see the "FLYING RED HORSE" on the tip top of a very tall building. I don't remember which building it was now. I never knew it was Pegasus...to me it was just a big ole flying red horse. :)
Thanks for hosting.

Love how the light shines through the cut outs. Also like the simplicity of the whole thing . . . great post!

I love the way American ranches have such individual and interesting gates. Our farm gates seem quite boring in comparison. Another interesting capture Tex.

At least, you do not need to go looking for fences. You seem to be surrounded by many. I gotta go driving in the country.

Pegasus, Wikipedia has the whole story behind that winged divine stallion, and so fitting for him to be high up there. And, news for me, we have a " Pegasus Town" being built north of Christchurch.

I always loved the old Mobile Oil red Pegasus symbol. They used to sponsor a NASCAR team with the symbol prominently displayed on the car, which instantly became one of my favorites.

Ah yes, the Flying Red Horse, we still have a few of them hanging around here too! Very sharp!

This is a great silhouette for a gate. However, this is different. This entry doesn't actually close.

I really like the pegasus, seems to be a little bit rusty to add to its character as well.
My apologies for hardly ever joining in Fences nowadays, I'm terribly unreliable I know... too much painting and swimming I'm thinking - then I get tired and sleep.
Anyway, just catching up and saying hi! :D)
