The Little Ones

The first batch of young squirrels are showing up to the feeders.
A 'fresh tail' eases past a Whistling Duck to get to the bird feeder area.

Oh, such a look of disdain it gives these young rascals!

Oh, my. They are cute, though!

Disdain as you will, they are clever and will get to food! You are right, they are cute, though.

All they need is backwards baseball caps to really annoy Mr. Duck!

The little squirrels look so cute in the feeder. The whistler does not like the competition!

Julia said...

They are cute but they are not welcome at my feeder anymore after the damage they did here. I used to be happy when they came to the feeder until they set up residence in my soffit and in my shed causing further damage there as well.

Have a great weekend Theresa.
Hugs,
JB

Hello Tex, Cute shots of the squirrels. But, I think the Whistling Duck does not like sharing his food. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Have a happy weekend!

I have little patience and less love for these miserable little creatures. Incidentally, I am in the 5th day of a difficult period of vertigo so my posting and commenting has been limited. Eventually I hope to be back to "normal!?

The Whistler looks a bit annoyed with the little critters in their territory.

Didn't take them long to learn to steal the Whistler's feed.

I like the look of the whistler at seeing the young squirrels. They do look very cute. And, they seem well equipped to fend for themselves at the feeders.

Beautiful pictures.
I love the squirrel.
Have a happy weekend.

They will always make their way to the food! My dad used to try and outsmart them by putting bird feeders away from any branches by using cable. The squirrels managed to walk the cables and still get the food!

Adam Jones said...

Oh they are so CUTE. They need to bush that tail up a bit though. Needs to be a bit more bushy.

The squirrel on property

went in shed and they were nasty too.

They bit and jumped on my chair to the back of me. Nasty grays.

So we put feeders away.

Also the bears tear feeders down.

I thought for sure with you having all gritters you may have bears. You don't. Looks like the whistlers are fed up with the squirrel.

Squirrels (at least here) seem to live such solitary lives in their own little fiefdoms that it kind of surprises me that they manage to mate.

I'm seeing some fresh tails, too! Couldn't help but notice a couple trying to hide under theirs at the approach of a pigeon. Those skinny tails do give them away.
