Those varmints will find a way, won't they! A duck has to try, though.Nice shots.
That is hilarious! He gave it a try!
Such peaceful accommodation.
Sorry Whistler, didn't work... but at least you're taking it in stride!
Haha, funny! The Whistling duck is at least able to save the food it is sitting on..Cute series, enjoy your day!
They are so like humans, only cuter. o.O
These are really fun wildlife shots!! Love the sneaking up.MersadMersad Donko Photography
Lol, love the thought, but, it seems nothing deters them. Good try Whistler :D)
ze tolereren elkaar wel.
LOL! But, you gotta try something!! ;) blessings ~ tanna
They must fight to keep their food! But maybe it's enough for both of them? ;)
What's a duck to do??
What a funny look on that whistler. They don't seem very bright sometimes, but then again, sitting on your food might be a way to preserve it for yourself. :-)
ha ha, i am not sitting in my food but my food is sitting all over my body in fat... maybe i should try sitting in my food and not eating it.
Poor whistler...can't protect his food from those pesky squirrels.
Hahaha.. really funny pair :)Nice moment!
I know how the poor guy feels , I have to protect my lunch from the guys I work with all the time (never tried sitting on it though!). That tree rat doesn't really look like he needs another mouthful of bird seed!!
But it seemed like a good idea at the time! :)
Poor parenting, I was raised to never sit on my food. Maybe in college, but otherwise never.
He`s so cute.
Who ya calling a Varmint, Duckey? :)Have a Beautiful Day, Theresa!Peace :)
To funny, the look on the Whistlers face is priceless.Blessings Francine.
I have plenty of squirrels and wish I had a Whistler to peck them.
If that Whistler had arms, in the second photo it would probably have its hands on its hips. "Do you see what I'm dealing with here?"
Yep, you can always give it a try!
You can hide but they'll still find it.hahaMB
Ah, love those Whistlers!! Wonder what the squirrel is thinking???
I love the Whistlers and the Squirrel.
I always enjoy Whistler Wednesday. I like the one sitting on his food...perhaps he wanted some warm grain. :-) Not much will stop a squirrel when they want to get something to eat.
Those whistlers are born entertainers and the squirrel makes a fine costar!
aaacccckkk, the old famous attack from the rear.
Animals are smart but not smart enough to not sit in their food.
Funny indeed. Cute photo series.
What a cutie! Both of them!Lindahttp://coloradofarmlife.wordpress.comhttps://coloradofarmlife.wordpress.com/sherlock-boomer
That is so cute, I'm actually chuckling out loud. Thanks for the fun start to my morning! :)
These cuties have such a personality....I just love them.
Such an expression on that Whistler!
But it seemed like a good idea at the time!
so interesting to see them:)
Marking his territory!! But did he/she really think it would work!!
LOOKOUT!Nutkin is sneaking up on you!~
Cute!Lil does this when Marcy feeds the cats. When she thinks the cats have had enough food, she lays on it and eats the rest at her leisure.
Lol! Guarding the food...funny Whistler!
They look like they are good company for each other :)
Happy Whistling Wednesday from Miami!
Maybe it's trying to hatch more food?Nice to get them both in the photo.
Oh,my!!You made my day with those great pictures,Tex!!So funny seeing the Whistling duck sitting on her food!!Ha ha!!!I love it!!!Dimi...
Very little keeps "those varmints" away for long.
Does keep it warm and dry though.
What ever is a Whistler to do?
I'm not sure sitting in ones food is the most appealing idea, but it might be worth it if it worked...which it doesn't seem to be doing.
At least the food beneath the Whistler is safe, maybe....
I love this posting on the whistler. What a bird! Loved the photos!
Hi Theresa, Today we get a two-for one special: Whistlers and Bubba (or his relative). Fun! Have a great Thursday tomorrow!
They are teaching the squirrel how to whistle.
I just love : Whistler's note to self!
Nope -- squirrels will eat anything.
oh, i wish they'd come visit me . . they are so cute . . .
Haha! Live and learn.
He needs to flap his wings a bit! ;-)
Can BBWD be 'darling'? They sure are. I'm finally able to do a bit a visiting this afternoon. And of course, being Wednesday....well, you know...Whistlers!!
Very nice !
I much prefer your varmint, I just had a huge rat on my pole feeder!
He is thinking, " All mine," silly ducks.
Ima try that!( '>/))//""ALOHA from Honolulu, ComfortSpiral =^..^=
Hi Tex -- Wait a minute ... Isn't this just ONE Whistler? :-) Whistler on Wednesday? :-)
That first pic needs a little caption bubble that says "s'up?" :@)
LOL! Can't say that I've ever sat on my food!
Can't hurt to try. Such a cute series.
This Whistler is warming his food the only way he knows how. Hugs,JB
T. maybe adds to the flavour!
I love the second shot!
Yes, lovely couple, I like a lot, nice pictures!
Ha! Ha! Got to give him credit for trying!
You can always expect the unexpected with the whistlers.
I guess it was worth a try! I love the look that duck is giving you in the first shot.In response to your comment today on my blog: ayce chicken = all you can eat chicken. A popular choice for poor hungry college kids!
Poor thing can't get a moments peace!
We all do what we have to do to survive...
Handsome little squirrel.

So funny, very nice shots!
Silly duck! Crafty squirrel.
Love your weekly Whistler updates (and antics)!
Might save the food under your feet if you can hold your ground, though. ;)
Oh no, the squirrel said, sit and spread your wings and I'll still go even under them. :)
I had a squirrel look at me like that in a London park. It had beady little eyes. brrrrAmaliaxo
Silly, adorable Whistler ;)
Now that is a smart duck! Talk about hiding the scent!!...:)JP
Often encountered guests in the garden, I see ;) Beautiful photos.
Gotta love those Whistlers!
I think your whistlers and varmints, adorable squirrels, are becoming my favorites! Outside your fur babies. :)
I love how the duck is taking a stand against the food stealing squirrel. Good for you duck! lol
Theresa, there is always something interesting around you. This pair is just amazing.
Dearest Theresa,What a thing to sit in your food! Either because feeling too full or for trying to 'claim' the food!Hugs,Mariette
That's funny and cute.
I almost missed these pictures of these cool guys. Sometimes I am too tired from work but never too tired to miss out your pics.
They just can't catch a break!
Beautiful fence and gate. Green cover looks so soothing!
your part of the world looks so inviting! and i'm just jealous of your cute 'visitors!!'
