I've always wondered why it was called a white crowned sparrow. It looks like a striped crown to me. But the bike helmet analogy is right on!

We have a lot of sparrows around here, and I think they're always fun to watch. Especially on the patio at the ice cream shop, they love to gather hoping you'll toss them a piece of cone or something. Anything!
