Wow! Gorgeous pictures.
Herons are really magnificent birds. Nice shots!MersadMersad Donko Photography
These are super shots of the Green Heron.
Morning Tex I have never seen one of them before. They are beautiful. Great shots. Hug B
I've never seen a green heron. It's beautiful! They must be very rare.
Very cool, and he's playful for the camera too. I didn't even realize there was a Green Heron! Now I wonder if we get them around here too? Oh Google!
Looks a little lonely out there, doesn't he? :-)
Great series on the Green Heron! Another cool visitor to your pond! Happy Tuesday!
Why yes we do have Green Heron in Minnesota and summer is their breeding time! I think yours is getting all pretty for mating time!
Handsome bird! Not as tall as some of the ones we see at the shore, but every bit as good looking.
When I see the green heron I always wonder how they were named. They look more blue to me! But I notice I see some colors that I think are definitely purple and others call them blue. Maybe I should get my eyes tested for color recognition! Great shots no matter the color!
He's a handsome bird and great shots. I love his tone down feather colors. Hugs,JB
Pic #2 brings out such beautiful detail.
Absolutely beautiful, and you've captured the 'filigree' markings on his wings so perfectly. =)
I have seen three just this week. Great pictures. (I didn't get any! They moved too fast away.)
Adore that ruffled look! It is totally ME!!...:)JP
The colors are beautiful on that bird. I wonder why they didn't name it the blue and red heron.
What an interesting fellow the Green Heron is, beautiful pictures.Francine.
Oh, I love the muted green of this heron. Great photos!
I think of him as MY heron, since he's the picture I won from you. He sure is a beauty! :-)
Just beautiful! Lovely color :)
Beautiful! I love its coloring!
he is a beauty and i would like him in my yard rather than the flock of Ibis that have taken up residence these last few days
Neat birds. I love them. Find them to be a lot more skittish than the average heron or ibis. So don't often get a good closeup.
So pretty! Or should I say handsome?!
I guess it depends on both the light and the individual heron because they often don't look green.
The second one is to die for, the details in the features are extraordinary.
Wow.That's an powerful bird. Lovely picture.
Looks blue to me.Either way, that is a really handsome and interesting bird. Reminds me of my old high school librarian.
Spectacular picture.Love the colors.
Wow, what a great capture. i don't recall ever seeing a green heron before. gracias for sharing mi amiga
He looks almost as it his wing feathers were outlined in white. (by hand)
Now that I have a bird feeder and birds to watch while I work, I have an all-new appreciation for these pictures!
What an amazingly beautiful bird!
I have seen these before, but not this color. Very pretty.
A beautiful, colorful bird! Great captures as always!!
Great photos of the green heron. This bird I've ever seen.Best regards, Irma
This one seems quite watchful!
Enjoyed your photos this morning. Pretty bird. Have you ever figured how many different type birds visit your pond?
They make a loud noise don't they?
Wonderful captures, Theresa. Such a beautiful bird in a subdued sort of way.
Photo 6 shows some serious flexibility in that neck!Beautiful bird, thanks for sharing him!
He is cute, kinda quirky looking!
A cracker of a heron. What a poser.
nice big bird
Oh wow, what a treat to see this guy!
I'm not sure I've seen a green heron before. Splendid shots.
The colors on the close-up in the second photo gives a good idea of the subtle tones of this bird.
Wow, such beautiful photos of the green heron! I especially love the close-up photo where I can see detail of his beautiful feathers!
He's a stunner! Really beautiful shots.
Wow, that are amazing photos!
Very pretty bird. I have only seen a Green once. Nice pics.MB
Lovely photos, it's like he picked out the perfect background and then posed for a photo shoot.
Hi Theresa, Beautiful photography! Such a stunning wading bird! Glad you have the diversity of wildlife you do at your ranch! Have a super day!
Beautiful capture of this very pretty and majestic bird. I saw a green heron for the 1st time a couple of years ago in Sarasota FL. Got a camera shot of it, but he was maybe 100 feet away, and I just couldn't get a good look at him. The one I saw was much smaller than a blue heron, but I'm not sure if that's a species specific trait or if he was just a juvenile. Regardless, they are a special treat to see.
just to sit awhile, preen, get those feathers just so, and have some photos taken, what a day for him., Beautiful shades in his plumage, a magnificent fellow .
Great photos ,nette
Fabulous shots Theresa. What a cool looking Heron. Feel free to send one across the pond please. :)
There is one that has lived at a nearby pond for the last couple of years but I haven't seen it yet this year. Maybe he has found a better place to live! ;-)
What a gorgeous bird! You are so blessed to be able to see such extraordinary wildlife!
Beautiful shots of the heron, Theresa. Thanks for sharing. Jo

That's a first for me...what a beauty!Lindahttp://coloradofarmlife.wordpress.comhttps://coloradofarmlife.wordpress.com/sherlock-boomer
What a beauty!
T, nice shots! A very pretty bird, but I think they are the comedians of the Heron family!
Great shots! Your pond is really up it looks like.
It looks beautiful bird on a background of herbaceous water. Regards.
What a great look at such a colorful bird!
That is my favorite heron. I think I read somewhere that it is the Audubon society's bird of the year.
OH, no it was the American birding association bird of the year. http://aba.org/boy/
That is a truly amazing bird! One of my fovorite posts so far!
When I saw the predicted path of the tropical storm sweeping across east Texas tomorrow, I wondered if you are likely to get some of the heavy rain it will contain. These are fine shots of this pretty bird.
Wow! he's gorgeous! so many different colors!
Beautiful colors on this Heron ! We don't know them overhere, only the white and blue Heron !
A handsome bugger! Nice series of shots! I can't help thinking that green herons ought to come equipped with a cigar and top hat...but that's just me.
One of my favorites! Fantastic shots!
What tremendous feet! You wouldn't want a kick in the pants with one of those feet.
Hooray, Green Heron! Love this guy!
What a treat to view these images of the Green Heron. He is gorgeous!
So cool! I've seen only one green heron in my life. It was beautiful. The lighting was perfect. He posed for several seconds. And I didn't have my camera.
looks blueish against the green background. Still very handsome though.
Never have seen a green heron before, how interesting!
Beautiful bird in very pretty color(s).Well done, Theresa!Have a Wonderful Day!!Peace :)
Wow, nice shooting, handsome Heron!
Love the wing detail in that second shot! Handsome heron!
the feathers color is so lovely. Nice shots
That is so cool! I have never seen one of those before!
What a cool bird. I saw one here last week. They are rare here, so it was a treat. Excellent photos, T.
He is gorgeous.
Great shots of a truly handsome bird :-)
Very nice! :)
Wonderful! I am missing the Green Herons I got to see last 2 years!
It looks like that pond finally got some water it was needing.
Great shots of the Green Heron (.that looks blue to me.)
Good shots of the heron. I love to spot those.
They are so much more compact with their shorter legs--and such beautiful coloring, too. Nice shots! :)
Another collection of beautiful shots. The heron is gorgeous!CM
Oh, he is magnificent!
Oow, I love how his wing feathers have a silver lining!
Beautiful blue heron photos! What a lovely visitor to the pond. He looks very happy there.
#2 is a great close shot.
Theresa wonderful! In the Netherlands, this beautiful green heron not. In the second picture, I can see very well this beautiful heron.
What a neat bird!
The green heron and the still, green pond look idyllic. I've been thinking of you with all the rain TX is getting. We've had a lot, too - our streams and rivers are high.
What a beautiful bird. Sure wish we had this variety around here.
A very handsome bird.
Dearest Theresa; Beautiful blue Heron, isn't he♡♡♡ Sure has pretty color compared to to the one I can see :-)I thought his eyes with yellow color stand out.(hope I'm writing correctly)Sending Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan to my Dear friend in America, xoxo Miyako*
I think it’s first time (at least for me) to see this bird in your blog. Lovely capture and i like the pattern work on its back which looks like done with sketch.
That seems to be a choice place to perch!
JEALOUS, even with the giant herons we get here and the zoom lens, they'll never sit still long enough for good photos.
What a secretive little fellow:) But I suspect he doesn't know you're watching or if he does, he's got an escape plan. They have such grouchy rant calls that always make me laugh. They carry the spirit of an old man:)
Amazing pictures, what a beautiful bird.
Very good series !!!
This reminds me--we saw one of these at the botanical garden on our last visit there. Love that last shot with the gates and the post and the heron, lots of landscape. Nice!
Great series ;-)Céline & Philippe
No WAY!!! I knew about Blue Ones (in fact, some weeks ago one flew right over my head . . super unusual event and i decided it was some splendid message) - and, I've seen White Ones . . . But, this is the first I've heard of or seen a Green One - it's gorgeous . . (sigh . . it's moments like this i wish i were a fine artist.) My cousin Steve would have said "Purty!"
