Whistlers on Wednesday 133

Silly perchers from early June.

Wood Duck drive-by. :)

Such big rubbery feet for stick-perching!

You can see the reflections of the two stump-perchers in the water behind this fence-sitter.

Such goofy and adorable ducks!

Optical illusion time, in the second and third pic... Does anyone else see the horse head in the front of the tree truck? It's nose is a little crooked but I see eyes and ears too:@)

Joseph Jameson-Gould said...

Those feet simply aren't made for perching!

Also I can see the horses head, too!

The wood duck is quite handsome, but it's the whistlers who always make me smile. Great reflections btw.

Jeanne said...

Love all of the reflections here. These are the most personable birds and such interesting poses.

Love those floppy feet!

My faves are the guy who looks like a kid thinking about going down the slide.

These feet weren't made for perchin'
But that's just what they'll do ...
and one of these days these feet
are gonna perch all over you

Julia said...

They must have seen some seagulls on posts and are trying to imitate them.

You have to wonder what is going on when you see ducks... on a perch. A job for behavioral scientist.

Wood Duck drive-by is very funny!
I have never seen ducks perch like the Whistlers. Granted, I haven't been around a lot of ducks, mostly Canada geese.

Got an eye on something.

Ah, always love your Whistlers!

They are "masters" at perching despite those huge feet. Amazing how well they manage these strange places to perch.

S. J. Qualls said...

They were goofy looking, not like any other duck - but now that they are a regular item, I see them as lovable - not so much goofy looking, but acting. I was waiting for an Oops shot. HaHa.

William Kendall said...

They are adorable!

I guess perching is a requirement if you're a bird. Someone should write a children's book: "The Bird Who Couldn't Perch." Hmmnnn...

I kept thinking that the one was going to walk down the "ramp." Sure looked like he was thinking about it but couldn't get up his nerve. That shot of the one on the fence with the reflections of the other two was pretty neat.

Rita said...

Love the wood duck driving by ignoring the balancing act--LOL!

Paul said...

They wouldn't be able to perch on half the places they do if it wasn't for those two big pink rubber fly swatters they call feet. :)

pattisjarrett said...

Some of those poses looked like yoga/balance poses. Silly things!
