Good Fences #71

I first posted this dome home (here), desperately needing repair (it had a rather large hole in the roof next to that skylight).
Jan. 2012
Later, I posted an update (here) showing some forthcoming attention (a blue tarp was draped over the hole). In summer 2014, I drove past it again (just never posted the photos until now) and major updates have been done, including a new gate and fence.
Summer 2014

One of these days, I'll have to go by again and see if they finished the gate and crossbar.
Here's the link-up!

1. Link in a post featuring a photo or photos of fences or gates.
2. Link back to Run*A*Round Ranch Report in your post or use the badge code to display the Good Fences button in your post that automatically links back here.
3. If time allows, please visit some of the other participants and comment on their shared posts.
Thank you!

I guess a tree fell on it-- so discouraging, but it is great that they put so much work into fixing it up. The decorative fence work understandably has lower priority. Very interesting "time lapse" photos!

It's really good that someone is putting the love back into this dome house! I do like their gate and fence, but I actually do favor the old view with the white finish and brownish roof. Those original photos you took just make the house stand out in a inviting way. A design I'd like to have myself.

Nice work in the roof. Interesting shaped home. Love that rustic fencing!

Wayne said...

I'm happy it was saved and I like the rustic changes they made to the entrance to the house. I'm scratching my head on how they shingled the roof (I think about weird stuff like that). It looks like they added a cupola as well, nice!

Annette Mickelson said...

I remember that house -- I liked it back when you first posted a picture and I still do. It looks like they did a ton of work on the front -- adding all the windows. I preferred the previous colors and look but I'm sure the house was dark before and wonderfully filled with light now.

Mariette VandenMunckhof-Vedder said...

Dearest Theresa,
That is indeed a lot of upkeep and it makes one happy to see. Quite an investment, also a new roof is seen.
As for Trilliums, we used to see lots of them here in the 80s when we moved here on August 29, 1983 but I've not seen any for decades... They for sure are very much climate related!
I only had 10 minutes, running, climbing up the hill for photographing some of them with my iPhone. We passed lots more while riding the big 3-horse carriage but no chance to hop off.
Both of us were impressed with nature and since you grew up in the neighboring State it must have looked similar...
Hugs,
Mariette

The fencing is cute, but the house itself is so unusual. I'd love to get a peek inside and see how they could configure a shape like that.

Nice addition of the big windows. i imagine it comes with some of the same furniture arrangement challenges you've had to deal with. Where to put a corner table without 90 degree walls...
