Skinny Chicken Taunts

It is late summer so the Roadrunners are hanging around the deck and yard. They pop up to look in the sliding glass doors and windows quite often. These are cell phone shots as I sat at the kitchen table eating my lunch.

 Goofy bird!

Some smears on the window...you'll see why in a moment.

Baron and BB demonstrate on this cell phone video why the windows are so full of doggy schmutz and smears. The birds taunt the dogs so badly they dumped over the plant table in the corner (so I just put the potted plant back in the upside-down table.) Skinny Chicken is definitely not afraid and it irritates the pups to no end.

I guess if they can stand up to mean coyotes a couple of barking dogs are no problem. (He must also have the concept of what glass is)

Oh, what a hoot!! Confident ball of feathers he is indeed!! Love your pics -- as always, and it is always good to see your post online!! You are missed!! And thanks as always for keeping me updated when blogger messes with me!!! Have a lovely weekend!!!

OH!! And I love the video!!!

Great video! Perhaps the roadrunner was curious.

Paula said...

Surprised the Roadrunners would stand up to the dogs like that. The new people in the farm house have four dogs in the yard. Maybe the Roadrunners at the ranch will get to meet some dogs.

Said I need a plugin so did not see the video. Since I have had a complete computer overhaul, things are different. My favorite cartoon was the Roadrunner.

Looks like it wants to come in....

That roadrunner knew that those dogs were totally unable to catch him, so why not have a little fun? What a hoot! :-)

Such an interesting bird!

Stephen Hayes said...

The cats don't scare away the roadrunner on the other side of the glass? Interesting.

S. J. Qualls said...

So cute! Love the video, it is definitely enjoying bugging the dogs.

Gail said...

He just acts like he's saying Come and get some! No fear at all.

That reminds me of the end of chain syndrome. Cats have irritated dogs for years because they know the length of the chain.

Fantastic photos.

Linda at To Behold The Beauty said...

It doesn't seem normal bird behavior to approach a patio door like that in the first place, let alone with two monstrous and noisy dogs on the other side of the glass. But then, I guess roadrunners aren't normal birds. Ya gotta love 'em, though.

Goofy but adorable and smart enough to taunt dogs on the other side of the glass :)

They're cheeky little devils.

Lynne said...

Really fun to see that funny looking bird . . .
I would bark a little bit too, teasing "the kids" like that!

Paul said...

Got allot of nerve taunting Baron and BB like that!

Try having the sliding glass door wide open next time before the bird shows up, I'm sure Baron and BB would be more than happy to play along with that game! :)

Those road runners seem to be quite clever, this reminds me of the roadrunner and coyote cartoons.

Kenneth Cole Schneider said...

In New Mexico some people fed the roadrunners and they would peck loudly on the windows for attention. Funny-- I played the video with the sound up and Mary Lou and the grandchildren did not know where the sound was coming from. I said there were two dogs out in back and they ran to see them!
