Good Fences #76

Two Ws on two different gates a few miles apart from one another (snapped in June - we're not this green now.)
A unique 'No Trespassing' sign - at least one I've not seen before...Danger - Confined Space - Enter by Permit Only.
And a rather unconfined space with a W...

Here's the link-up!

1. Link in a post featuring a photo or photos of fences or gates.
2. Link back to Run*A*Round Ranch Report in your post or use the badge code to display the Good Fences button in your post that automatically links back here.
3. If time allows, please visit some of the other participants and comment on their shared posts.

Thank you!

When the property is fenced...no matter if posted signs, I tend to respect the privacy. As it should be....right?

Hello Tex, that sign is weird. Why not just say no trespassing. I like the second gate and farm, the sky looks pretty too. Great fence finds. I hope all is well, have a happy day! Thanks for hosting.

That certainly isn't a confined space! Great capture. Theresa. I have linked my post above and have rather a long story in my post today. Thanks for hosting this meme. I keep alert to all sorts of fences now to post here - tomorrow we go to the city (Johannesburg) and there will be really secure and high fences and walls. I will have my camera and post about it sometime in the next month. Have a great day. Jo

Danger Confined Space? That's pretty odd, isn't it. Sounds like someone's up to no good. But I like the W. I have a special fondness for W. :-)

Paula said...

Humm that's an odd sign.

Brian King said...

The danger sign looks like it came from a construction site or a mine. I think I like the second W just a bit more. And the wide open space!

Ramona said...

Confined space?? Ok, very different signage there.
I do love that third shot.

Beautiful blue sky!

that is a weird "danger" sign! kind of unwelcoming!

I love the two last pics, showing the old, long dirt road.
Yea the sign is odd. Haven't seen one like that before.

Just posted this elsewhere, but it fits here too although it has nothing to do with fences. "I was behind a van with Texas plated for awhile yesterday. It was foggy and cool at the time. I wondered how they liked it. But then it got funny and hot, so they probably felt more at home."

CelestinaMarie@SouthernDayDreams said...

Good Morning Tex, Very Different sign here. Looks like it was taken (borrowed) from another site and placed here.
Wide open space however under a beautiful June sky.
Yes, the green has been replaced by dry and brown here too.

Interesting sign... with the gate what do you need to warn people for? I am befuddled.

The greenery in the field is so nice - it's parched here in TN right now!

Hmm...confined space is a new one on me. I wonder if it means that anyone entering without permission will be trapped and cooked for dinner. o.O

Kenneth Cole Schneider said...

Wikipedia defines: "A confined space is an enclosed area with limited space and accessibility. An example is the interior of a storage tank, which may be occasionally entered by workers for maintenance but is otherwise not a habitable space. Hazards in a confined space often include harmful dust or gases, asphyxiation, submersion in liquids or free-flowing granular solids (for example, grain bins), electrocution, or entrapment." Pretty scary!!

Rose said...

That sign is really strange. I'll just take the second gate, please.

LV said...

It looks like a neglected place. Could be very nice with a little tender care. I always enjoy your finds.Trust all is well with you.

DJan said...

Maybe the danger comes from the owner's guns. It is curious, though. Hope you're doing well, Tex! I sure enjoy seeing you around and miss our whistlers! :-)

photodoug said...

Wow, quite a warning. Thanks for sharing.

joeh said...

Now you just need a fence at the ".COM" ranch.

Interesting sign- I'd definitely stay out of there! Fences aren't always pleasant white picket ones are they! The 2nd one is much friendlier!

~Lavender Dreamer~ said...

I like the last couple of photos. It reminds me of the scene in Castaway with Tom Hanks...at the end of the movie when he's deciding which road to take. Enjoy your day sweet friend. Hugs!

Really looks pretty wide-open to be a confined space!

Christine said...

It seems to me the sign came from different confined space as it doesn't seem confined there at all! The W is a neat addition to the gates though! And when I think of Texas, I think wide open space!
Thanks for hosting! Have a great week!

Lovely sky and fence.

I like the simple W on the gate. The variety of gates is very interesting.

Maggid said...

the 'confined space sign seems a bit of a mystery . . hmmm

Large - Wide Open Spaces . . it seems your neighborhood is expansive.

Sandi said...

I like the simplicity of these photos.

I thought that car had a Danger license plate at first! :)

Birdman said...

Gosh there are lots of fences in Texas. I guess some are used to keep the cars at bay. Ha.

Andrea Priebe said...

The first doesn't look too friendly, but the second with it's white puffy clouds makes a beautiful rural scene ...

Carola Bartz said...

I agree with Hootin' Anni - a fence should be enough to respect the privacy. This sign gives it a very unfriendly touch. For this reason I like the second one so much better. We haven't seen anything so green here either - still hoping for rain.

Terri @ Coloring Outside the Lines said...

That's a weird sign- like it belongs in an industrial park or something. Love those wide open spaces!

I do get their point of staying out. How odd.

Nancy's Notes said...

Sure looks like they want to be left alone!!
Great shots, Tex!

Ida said...

That is an "odd" sign. You know I think I prefer the "unconfined" space.

Nancy Chan said...

With a Danger warning sign like that, I would not want to go anywhere near there. It will be wise to stay away! I like the 2nd W sign gate, where it is an unconfined space with fluffy cotton like clouds in the clear blue sky!

Karen S. said...

Interesting, it's like a good mystery. I wonder if the two properties are connected with each other, by owners or perhaps the W is a logo for a fence company? I'm sorry you've lost your green, we've been collecting lots of rain and the grass has been growing like hearty weeds!

Brk Trt said...

Not very confined, but it's not yours, respect that.

Sally said...

I've not ever seen that either "confined space". Well, it takes all kinds, right? :)

Very interesting warning. I do think if I ever had a gate it would be fun to put an initial on it...
Have a great day!

Pamela Gordon said...

Hm...I wonder what that sign means. Rather strange unless one is claustrophobic. :)

Miss Val's Creations said...

Interesting sign. I used to work in safety and "confined space" is something that requires training and permitting to enter. There must be something dangerous inside. I was never certified for such a scary thing. :) If the sign does not refer to that, then it is really strange!

Revrunner said...

Yep, that's a new one on me, too--"confined space".

Sylvia K said...

I'm with EG, makes me wonder what goes on behind the fence -- don't think I'd want to find out through personal experience though!! Intriguing pics for the day!! Have a great weekend!!

thepoodleanddogblog said...

Whatever the sign means it is intimidating. I would respect it, but I don't need a sign to tell me to stay out of places I was not invited into.

sonia a. mascaro said...

I like the sky, the space and the animals grazing behind the fence!

Stephanie said...

The first two looks like it is abandoned or lack of taking care of their property. I love the last two shots, so pretty the scenery and the fencing is nice.

Pom Pom said...

So many fences in your land! Do you guys have fences like that at the Ranch?

Pantherka said...

Interesting ... the sky is beautiful.

Joseph Jameson-Gould said...

I can't help but see them as brothers who had completely different ideas as to how much space should exist behind a gate.

amanda | wildly simple said...

I'm partial to W's. :)
Not many people have gates up in our parts... but I like them!

jeannettestgermain said...

I haven't seen the W's here yet...do you know what it means ... is it the name of the company who makes them, or the name of the owner of the fence?

Gosia k said...

what a spacious farm .... and gate.

Wayne said...

I've seen those signs at various 'confined' places, I wonder who issues the permit? The office of confined spaces?

RedPat said...

I guess the first people don't want any visitors!

Debbie said...

cool fences....that danger, no trespassing sign does not work for me ;)

but it does not look like a spot where i would want to wander around!!!

Jeanne said...

I prefer the wide open space to the "Confined Space" Gotta wonder???

Midmarsh John said...

I like the look of the first gate. Most unusual wording on the sign, sounds like it really belongs on a business site.

This sign says something about the person that owns it.........odd.

I was going to say that that space does not look confined to me. But maybe by Texas standards... I like the W.

nookworm said...

Well because there is so much grass in the driveway in the "confined space" I REALLY wonder about that place behind the fence. I looked up confined. The sign could mean any of the following: circumscribed-cramped-imprisoned-restrained-restricted-bound-chilled-compassed-cramp-detained-grounded-hampered-held-hogtied-iced-immured-incarcerated-indisposed-invalided-jailed-pent-sick-bedfast-bedridden-bottled up-cooped up-flattened out-in chains-in jail-incommodious-laid up-locked up-on ice-sealed up-shut in.
YEOW!! Funny how your fences make everyone wonder about the strange ones - with signs like this!

DeniseinVA said...

That sign makes me scratch my head. Interesting gate shots. I linked up a little late today :(

pattisjarrett said...

Hi Theresa! That "no trespassing" sign is new to me, too. The second W view looks like wide open space--no confinement there!

Red said...

The story of the two w's. the first one shows the building very close to the road and the second the buildings are in the distance.

messymimi said...

Confined by the law of ownership, perhaps?

Stephen Hayes said...

I think I'd be leaving the guy with that sign alone.

Munir said...

That sign is unique indeed,

Sallie (FullTime-Life) said...

I wouldn't jump that fence, that's for sure. (Might even have hesitated about taking the picture -- he sounds armed and dangerous and a little nutty).

Debby@Just Breathe said...

Doesn't look like they mow much! I imagine it can be hard with a lot of property.

Felicia said...

that is a quite different sign. Is that a realtor sign on the second gate to the left.

love those big texas skies too.

I have got to get busy and find some fences to photograph so I can participate again!

I don't quite get the "confined space" indication, but it certainly invites curiosity. Love the blue skies and puff clouds. Bill says "Hi.. how are yuh, pardner?" in his John Wayne voice :) We seem to have fallen into a dual post each Thursday. It's great fun! See ya next week!
