Love that the cattle egrets sit on the fence like that. Cattle egrets are very rare here in the Toronto area!

Love 'agree to disagree'!! The clean white of the birds is a great contrast with the rusty old fence.

So cute these Cattle Egret duo! Don't they look like most couple?

Andrea Priebe said...

Up here we just call them cow birds ... but cattle egret sounds much more official. I just noticed the little brown skull cap they have ... so cool. This fence serves a purpose as far as they are concerned ... can't tell if it actually keeps anybody in or out :) Nice post, Theresa ... have a great weekend :)

Interesting birds. Their coloration makes it look as if they were standing under the wrong end of the cow when...well, you know.

Some things fences just can't keep out, like these birds. Your photos are as wonderful as ever, just noticing the blue birds in the previous post so away I go to sit back, sip on my coffee and enjoy at least 10 mins. of browsing through blogs I've missed!

Have yourself a fantastic weekend Tex, cheers!

I don't know why when I thought "egret" I expected something much bigger. I must be thinking of the herons that we have in marshes around here.

In addition to following cows around, they love being close to the water. We have them roosting in some dead trees in our pond and they gather there in the late afternoons. I think they're sticking around longer this summer, don't you? Aren't they usually gone by now?

Bethany Carson said...

Love your shots of the egrets! Looks like they have quite the dispositions!
