Yes, that would be a morning constitutional! Very nice place, even so,

Good morning, Tex! That is a long drive, I like the gate. A nice walk in good weather. Thanks for hosting, have a happy day!

Brian King said...

LOL! I guess that would be a long walk! You'd have your exercise over with, though. Nice gate!

Christine said...

A high tech gate by the looks of it but I'd enjoy the walk! We lived along a lane a quarter of a mile long and had to walk it every day to the mailbox!
Thanks again for hosting!

I love a long driveway and a good walk for the newspaper!

Cranberry Morning said...

Looks like that paper could get rained on. Too far to fling it onto the porch.

4RRanch said...

are there any driveways in Texas that don't have huge gates?

EG CameraGirl said...

Good exercise but I bet they pick up the paper in their car or on a tractor. ;))

That would be a long walk for the Sunday paper but I guess it's good exercise!

The numerous gates and fences in Texas are amazing. It might be a state "thang."

Tanya Breese said...

i love long driveways like that!

Hilary Melton-Butcher said...

Hi Theresa .. I'd have preferred the gate to be white too - to match the fences - but it looks an impressive estate .. cheers Hilary

DJan said...

It would be a nice stroll except when it's raining. :-)

Nice gate! Beautiful place to walk ☺

I do love a good fence (or gate). Just yesterday I went with a friend to visit someone, and one of their neighbors had some brick posts across their front yard, just waiting for some ironwork or so I thought; they said it's been like that for a year!

Rose said...

Or the mail...at least they would get exercise!

~Lavender Dreamer~ said...

A good way to get your exercise! Happy Fences! Hugs, Diane

The walk for the Sunday paper would be quite long. Have a great day. I liked your gate shot.

Very cool, and I thought my walk for the Sunday paper, and mail was long! But so worth it!

I enjoy seeing the gates and fences in Texas!

Nancy Chan said...

A modern black gate and white fence. Its quite a distance to the gate to get the paper.

Good for health and knowledge! Beautiful fence and gate

You got THAT right. I think I'd cancel my subscription.

Pix Under the Oaks said...

Nice gate and fence... simple and clean. I need to walk to the mailbox, CH always gets there first. No Sunday paper here!

Kathy said...

Time to shop for a 4-wheeler if they don't already have one!

Debbie said...

a nice gate...i'll bet they take their truck ;)

Kenneth Cole Schneider said...

Nice functional gate, high-tech as well. Maybe a robot is sent out to fetch the paper.

Julia said...

I love this beautiful gate and fences. Maybe they send the dog to fetch the paper.
Have a great day.
Hugs,
JB

I would probably walk that distance for my paper. I enjoy it even through it is not worth the price. Stay warm over the weekend.

John @ Sinbad and I on the Loose said...

Would it be that difficult to get the paper over on the other side of the gate? Sheesh paperboy, make an effort.

Kate said...

Good exercise; perhaps you should subscribe to a daily newspaper too!

Mama Zen said...

No doubt!

Well I thought I left a comment earlier but apparently it got eaten up! That is quite a long way to go for the Sunday paper! I like that gate, though!

Sylvia K said...

Guaranteed exercise every day -- if you like the newspaper! But with the headlines lately I think I'll pass on the walk and have another cup of coffee!! Have a great weekend!!

joeh said...

My mom and dads home (after they retired) was a small development at the end of a private community drive much like that. You got the paper and the mail on a bicycle, or if the weather was bad you drove.

Ida said...

I'd say taht would be quite the walk to pick up your paper. Looks like a very nice place and that's a great looking gate as well.

Margaret Adamson said...

Good to have a good walk, then a coffee and a good paper to read. Thanks for hosting Tex.

Beatrice Euphemie said...

An enjoyable way to get your morning exercise! Thanks for hosting!

Debby Ray said...

Man...I'll say!! :)

jeannettestgermain said...

Yes, I'm beginning to see how one walks a lot more in the country (with much health benefits in walking without engine fumes of cars around!)
Your post below is so entertaining!

Joseph Jameson-Gould said...

Haha! Round these parts you'd be at a shop after a walk like that from the front door!

Sandra said...

would be nice if they tossed it over the fence, a big fence to open or JUMP to get it

RedPat said...

You would work up an appetite by the time you got back home!

Brk Trt said...

A long walk indeed....but what surroundings.

interesting gate to the farm

I bet they walk as far down their own driveway as we would to the corner store! Happily we read the paper on line these days because it is raining!

Anvilcloud said...

Good exercise though.

Lovely fence and gate and great shot!

Happy Weekend to you,
artmusedog and carol

Wayne said...

You might make it back in time for lunch. That reminds me of my lab, Tori, who was an excellent retriever. She would always bring back a paper, no matter who's house it was delivered to :-)

Bob Bushell said...

Oh yes, a long way to a Sunday paper, you passed a couple of fences. Brilliant.

William Kendall said...

Quite a walk, but it's good to keep oneself informed!

Red said...

Oh ya! And then they just throw the paper on the road.

Judy said...

That looks just a bit longer than what we have to walk to get to the end of the drive ;)

Gail said...

And a fine looking entry.

pattisjarrett said...

Nice catch finding the paper there!

Robin Lamb said...

T, I wonder if he does it in his underwear!! Looks like a nice place!

A great walk to start the day or end it!

Primitive Stars said...

A long but beautiful walk, fence ain't bad either.Blessings Francine.

Linda said...

A gray day but a nice looking gate!

Pat Tillett said...

Just walking out to the mailbox, would take care of a person's daily activity.

Jeanne said...

Yeah, can't imagine walking that far for a paper, we've been spoiled by the Internet, iPads and smart phones. I think I need an electronic cleansing

Paul said...

That's why you should have a good Border Collie around to fetch the mail and paper when it gets dropped off!

Rita said...

Long, long driveway. I wonder if they ride a horse down to get the paper and mail.

Ms. A said...

Nice gate! If my daughter got a paper it would be a long walk, too. She usually picks up the mail on her way in, or out. She even drives the kids to the bus stop, at the end of the driveway. They have made the walk when it's really dry, but she usually just takes them in the car, or on a 4 wheeler. It keeps their shoes a lot cleaner.

HOOTIN ANNI said...

Long walk ....but oh so pretty!!

Lynne said...

I like that stately rod iron looking gate . . .
A gate like that, the long drive, creates mystery in my mind . . .
What is contained beyond . . .

Pamela Gordon said...

Beautiful gate and yes, a long walk. I bet they have a golf cart. :)

genie said...

I am so late getting around to my commenting...been getting Buddy ready to leave for his 24 hour race today. I like the way the iron gates contrast with the white side fencing. You in Texas have such pretty gates and fencing compared to what I see here in the county.

Halcyon said...

A nice sturdy one today!

Paula said...

A long walk, an enjoyable walk for sure.

Mary Kirkland said...

Interesting fence and I like the picture it makes.

Shammickite said...

Bet the paper is picked up using a 4x4.

Terry and Linda said...

A long walk or a fast ride on a four-wheeler. That's what we do!

Dang. I was going to try to get here in time to link up. Interesting black and white combo they have. I would have to drive to get the paper. I'm really that wimpy.

Maggid said...

Hope they have muck boots for rainy days . . and - where is their mailbox???
still - bet it's a swell place to live.

Mariette VandenMunckhof-Vedder said...

Dearest Theresa,
As long as it does not rain, that would make a lovely walk with a beautiful view.
