Good Fences #95

Some fly-by shots (out the open passenger-side window as I was driving) of a local private lake. Of course, I love the cattle fence and the expansive view...
but I was trying to capture the mass of white resting on the lake.
A flotilla of migrating white pelicans.
Here's the link-up!

1. Link in a post featuring a photo or photos of fences or gates.
2. Link back to Run*A*Round Ranch Report in your post or use the badge code to display the Good Fences button in your post that automatically links back here.

Oh wow, look at all the pelicans. I have seen a similar sight of white pelicans floating on the Snake river. The lake, pelicans and fence are a great scene. Great drive by shots. Thanks for hosting, have a happy day!

Morning Tex Oh I love your flyby shot and what a beautiful fence and property but I would like to have seen those Pelicans too. We do not see them here in the snow:) Hug B

That is one huge flock of pelicans! I have had them only twice on our local lake, flocks of about 12 & 20. I watched & took videos of them fishing cooperatively. It would be amazing to see how this large flock rounds up the fish. I wonder if they split up into smaller groups or have just one big drive. Since this is in Texas it must be the latter!! Sorry about my fence this week -- it is actually highway rail side barrier but the highway was never built and it has stood alone for over 10 years (I hope they never get the money to finish the road as it will totally ruin our little patch of wilderness).

my gosh that is a lot of pelicans! when i first saw it i was trying to figure out what the white was thinking it looked like a wave but knowing it couldn't be! how neat!

Rose said...

Oh, I would love to see those pelicans...I like that view, too. I bet there are some awesome sunsets and sunrises to be seen there.

Lynne said...

Now that is quite the "sight of white" to see . . .
My "white sight" is an entirely different kind of white . . .
Pretty little nestled fence though . . .

Celestina Marie said...

What a beautiful scene. The white of the pelicans looks like foam coming across the water. Love the cattle fence too.
Such a peaceful setting. Thanks for hosting and have a great rest of the week. ;)

A great picture of so many penguins! Enjoyed the fence too.

Dicky Bird said...

It looks like ice or snow on the lake - then you see the grass...I bet it was neat - was it noisy like a flock of geese on a field?

EG CameraGirl said...

Whoa! I.ve never seen a pelican, let alone a mass such as this one!

Nancy Chan said...

I thought they were just a patch of white snow or ice floating on the water. That must have been a big flock of white pelicans. What a sight! Beautiful photos.

The wide expanse of Texas scenery makes for beautiful photos, even without the pelicans. But what a neat sight that must have been. Hope there's not much traffic on that road, by the way.

Did I read correctly that those were taken out an open window WHILE MOVING???? Yikes! You ARE awesome!!...:)JP

Wow, there is so much sky out there. I think we forget that living in urban areas. I didn't spot the pelicans at first. I'm glad you pointed them out!!

I love the expansive views too. You can see those memories running through my mind last night from this morning's post of mine.

What is missed in all of this is the interesting fence with small logs as posts. This is a beautiful view and if you hadn't told me, I would have thought the mass of white on the lake was a sun reflection ... my eyes must be getting old :) Nice shot on the fly, Theresa ...

How cool to have your own private lake and then to have the migrating Pelicans visit makes it even more awesome. Great shots of the lake, the fence and the pelicans.

I loved to take photos out of the open window. Now that I'm a new widow I do my own driving and those days are over. I have to stop for my photo! So I've tried to memorize a scene and paint it. Hence my photo this week.

Expansive views is an understatement. Those views just go and go and go. Beautiful. The cattle fencing is a bit different from those fancy gate the Texans have on their ranches. These are such pretty shots.

T, Wow, that's one mess of Pelicans! Great fly bys too! I often find that I have decent luck with that type of shot! But it can be a bit challenging too! My shot today is a fly by, in Lynden Washington!
